I will probably end up scaling the whole amp, since there's no master. I don't feel like adding a PPIMV either..
Hopefully it retains the feel and tone, just reduces the volume some.

VVR..
I've got a Dr Z Mazerati V2 (cathode bias el84 quad) that I'm going to add a VVR to. I bought the kit from Dana Hall My question is, what's the best way to do it? Scale the whole amp, just the power section, or the power and PI.. Any help is much appreciated! Cheers! Btw the amp has negative feedbac...

Shipped a guy my Badcat Cub and now it's screwed up.
I shipped a guy my Badcat Cub II. It's the Samson era one with the focus/spectrum switch. He says that when you strike a chord it makes a loud crackling/buzzing with lots of static. I'm assuming its power tubes? Maybe the took a hard hit during shipment? Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers!

If Trainwreck made a wooden 1x12 combo..
What would it look like? I'm very curious!!
I want to build an Express 1x12 combo, but I'm not sure how to tell the cabinet maker to build it..
Cheers!

Thinking of building a 6v6 powered Matchless Clubman
I've been wanting to build a 6v6 powered Clubman for awhile. The pentode ef86 second stage seems pretty cool. I heard an el34 version that sounded killer but was stupid loud. I think the 6v6's would offer a little less volume. Plus, I love the way they break up.. I've got a schematic. Any changes i ...

Re: Spitfire & Lightning schematics - screen supply
Jason, I'm probably the only person that enjoys the Ken Watt's Spitfire stock no mods. I do agree the Fat Boost switch doesn't add much with the cap values used. But the rest of the circuit I left stock. Mark What cap value would you suggest in it's place then? What do you think a tone bypass would...

Yeah Randy is a great builder and designer, but I'm looking for something with a decent amount of headroom and a little chime..El_Martin wrote:Hi!

Re: Favorite 2 tube preamp, 2 el84 amps?
I converted a Hammond AO-35 reverb amp into a two 12AX7, pair of EL84s and 5Y3. The V1 is wired parallel and this 18w amp will peel paint off the wall, so I put in a 5751 instead. Mark I have one of the same exact amp I am going to use the iron from probably. Was your PT pretty hot? This one ...

Re: Favorite 2 tube preamp, 2 el84 amps?
I'm putting the final touches on an 18 watt that started as an 18 watt lite, I then modded it to a superlite. Not satified with that, I have since tweaked it to a Mazerati GT preamp w/ TMB and small changes into the superlite power section. It has a cathode bypass switchable boost, bright switch, a...

Favorite 2 tube preamp, 2 el84 amps?
I am looking for a new amp to build and it will be very compact and I want to use 2 tubes for the preamp.. I'll use two el84's for about 18 watts..
I'm thinking maybe an EF86 (voxish setup) into either a voxy or marshally PI setup..
The songwriter looks interesting as well..
Cheers
