Re: 2nd Gen Build

Looks fab! Bet you can’t wait to hear how it sounds. Once it’s up and running, the suggestions will come in as to how to fine tune it. Ian has shared a lot of very useful information and tips from his build.

Re: Tube Town Transformers

I think the main thing is to ascertain if the prices they advertise are inclusive of vat or not.

Re: Bonamassa new amp day

These amps are the tools of his trade. They are also his pension pot. He is only making hay while the sun shines. He fully admits that his future/career as a musician is full of uncertainty. I have seen him live a couple of times and he puts on a great show and is a great role model to young and up...

I must admit that I didn't get that far. Would the 12ax7 PI roll off tons of highs? The OD was very bright and harsh which is why I wondered if the OD entrance 1M2 bypass cap was maybe reduced in size. I should really revisit this.

Re: #40 resistor choice

I have implemented a MV ala 102 and 183 : 1Meg volume pot out of the relay into the FX Loop, and I have an OD level and Master. I have added a bright cap on a MV on a previous build, subtle, yet interesting. For these amps, it is best to implement the Bluesmaster or Hybrid master volume setup other...

Re: #54 (photos)

Again, I didn’t see this question. Sorry. No pictures that actually show the written value but it is a different cap than what is on the FET board. It looks 1uf to me. CW No problem! Thank you for your reply. I have tried to replicate this circuit, but couldn't replicate the "medium gain warm OD". ...

Re: Bluesmaster HRM question:

Did Dumble actually do this or is it just another TAG tweak? Excuse me, just another TAG tweak? ;^) Forgive me Martin! My comment was perhaps a little clumsy. Perhaps I am behind the curve, but as far as I know, Talbanys' Bluesmaster layout is the only reasonably accurate resource we have for this ...

I ended up installing a 100k pot instead of the 22meg resistor. Dumble did that too and just hang the pot between the bus bar and the mid pot.

Re: 70's and 80's Dumbles........

Love that example of the tele max did in the 70’s style amp. Love to talk about that amp and what was used? AFAIR he used his Fender Nocaster for this track and his 3rd generation ODS 50WX Combo (hardwood cabinet similar to the late 70ies early eighties Boogie hardwood cabinets). AFAIR the speaker ...

Re: #54 (photos)

Here are some photos of a nice 70s amp I had the chance to visit with for a while(this was a few years ago). CW One last one, I hope, Charlie. I can just about see a small green tant. cap on the accent switch. Would you hazard a guess and say that it is still 1uf like a typical 2nd/3rd gen amp? I n...

Re: Tweedle Dee on Carter

Probably should clarify what is going on with the trimmer. B+ rail comes from filter to bottom terminal of 10k trimmer at the 100k and continues on to V1 off the bottom terminal. The 56k is on the wiper. I don’t know if the wiper and top terminal are jumpered but either way a variable resistance 56...
