Re: I've found Bizarro TAG!

I've got an old Traynor TS-50 from the early 70's. After replacing a few scratchy pots and leaky caps, I got a really nice, stand-up "clean amp". One trick pony? Sure, but... it's a good trick.

Surprisingly, I'm glad that I didn't use it as a "Parts Amp", as I initially intended.

Re: OT Primaries "backward" in a Push-pull amp...

You drive a car so that you keep constant distance to the car in front of you. You get too close - ease on the accelerator You stay too far back - step on the accelerator That's negative feedback Now rewire your brain so that you step on accelerator when you get too close, the closer you get the ha...

Re: Distortion pedals?

The best Distortion that I have ever had the pleasure of playing, bar none, is the Brunetti Mercury Box - Liquid Distortion. Something of a ZenDrive II meets Plexi type sound. I own an original. A friend of mine built a Clone, with this layout... They sound very similiar... Gregor Hilden: http://www...

Hey Mark,

What's a DBM? Sorry, for my ignorance.

Cheers,

Re: I think a Hiwatt clone might be in my new future.

Wow... 'tis a thing of beauty. Oh, yessiree! Low parts count. Nice, no nonsense lay-out and lead dress. Twisted pairs, all over. 90 degree crossings. Likey, likey! This one was signed-off by Harry Joyce. I like his newer amps, too (made under the "Harry Joyce" moniker). Marc Ford, Black Crowes et al...

What is the "go to" HiWatt? Or, the HiWatt 'grail tone'?

Re: 86ing it: Ef'ing up my amp

I am making a parts list to rebuild a JTM 45 Tremolo into a straight JMP 50 with a switchable Ef86 stage in the middle of V2 at the entry of the CF. The Ef gets it's own drive control, and something of a tone shaper, like the 6-pos control in the brown note layout of the foxy 18. On paper, it seems...

My father is a man of good taste. He enjoys a good dose of Stevie Ray Vaughn with a side order of Pink Floyd and a shot Santana... and since he discovered Bonamassa... well, I won't get into that... However, as a landlord, he has had the unfortunate task of "keeping the peace" between tenants. It's ...

Re: Canadian Postal System

As a Canadian working/living abroad I ship and receive many parcels from "home"... guitars, amps, clothing, gear, magazines, furniture... whatnot. I have never, in the 11 years I've worked abroad (currently, in Portugal), ever had a single issue/complaint with regards to CanadaPost. Never. Maybe, I ...
