Im greatly interested, in that you can dial it in.
To get those pleasing harmonics we all like but cant always get out of the design. Cant wait to try it.

PS. after I read this a few more times of course.

Re: Marshall 18w clone tmb problem
Skev dont feel bad, I have built a few. Dont want to embarass myself but.
I still miss 1 ground somewhere in almost every amp I build.
It has helped to be much better at trouble shooting (LOL).

If your ears are like mine you wont hear the differance anyway. If there's something you dont like about the sound change the circuit

Re: dc for the heaters
Want hum free hi-gainer? Use separate transformer for preamp heaters. Well filtered DC and put the heaters on some 50-70V DC above ground. He might not have seen that before, maybe a schematic would be helpfull. First time I tried it I didnt realize it was easiest with 12-0-12 transformer . I had a ...

Re: snap in caps
I like the 330 doubled up in a hundred watt amp. You get some serious bass out of those babies. They had some at all ellectronic that i pickup a couple of to try. Wish I would have got more before they were all gone.

Re: Has anyone played around with lower Rp values on a 12AX7?
I've used 47k plate resistor on 12AX7 stage. Makes the stage cleaner, which helps with jazzy tones. It's nice when theory and practice come together. I was thinking about this, primarily about "jazzy" (vs just clean). When I think jazz cleans, I think thick, round cleans... using a lower value plat...

I really like the 5879 tube with a gain stage in front driving it. it gets a great tone, sweet creamy sustain.

Re: Hafler T2 gut shots, schematics: mid/treble boost mods?
roberto I see that he,s probably struggling with understanding what a 3 gain stage with CF is, Im at work or I would put a schematic up for referance. Bill ryanpg I would not use a 12at7 to cut down the gain get a 5751 or 12ay7 .I dont like the sound of 12at7 when it distorts. Just my personal prefe...

Re: Asteroid with diode rectifier and 4.3k output
I would probably stick with the one called for I have a 70 mA choke with resistance of 125ohm and a 200 mA choke with a resistance of 347 ohm same 5 to 8 henry choke I would think that might make a differance in how it sounds. but I will let those more experianced than I chime in .

2 pages i'm done. Although I don't understand why it would make people mad. if you don't like it don't play, maybe he's a lonely guy with nothing but time (LOL).
Sometimes we just let things die and disappear no worries . Time for some solder fumes. Peace be with you.

Re: Dealing with pickup squeal at the amp.
Gaz here is a differant perspective . In Merlins pre-amp book is a section on using a cap to stop fret squeel in high gain amps in essence a .01 cap right at the input on the first triod were your 10k is connected to ground . i used it on a high gain amp to remove the fret squeel that was common in ...

Re: tonal difference between 6k primaries and 8k with kt66?
I do not think you will hear much difference tone wise but for the 10 watt gain in power difference with regards to where the output stage starts to clip with the 6K primary overt the 8K. Comparing the output stage tone with two different plate voltages of lets say some 60 volts will show a greater...
