Hi Tony! I did see the PDI-09 on the Palmer site but since they didn't have the load box I sorta dismissed them.....Hmm....worth a second look!
Thanks!!

Re: Any experiences using a Palmer Speaker Sim with an Express?
Thanks for the insights, folks! They do seem to have a number of big name players and sorta pricey. I agree that amp+cabinet+air+ears is the best sonically and I was/am still wondering how a Palmer would react with all the volume knob playing that goes on with an Express. Out of curiosity has anyone...

Any experiences using a Palmer Speaker Sim with an Express?
Happy Holidays to all! Has anyone used Palmer's PDI-03 or PGA-04 with an Express clone? I did some searches and found a few references but I didn't get enough to go on. I may be moving residences in the future and I am exploring "silent" recording/practicing options. Thanks in advance for your advic...

Re: My Express build named Flo....finished the cabinet
Hi Folks. Thanks for kind words! The cabinet is all approximately 3/4" in thickness, and the control faceplate is about 5/16". It's 3 coats of wipe on poly from Minwax, sanded with 400 between coats, 0000 steel wool for the final, then 3 coats of Briwax dark wax. As mentioned it is a "spicy" aroma a...

My Express build named Flo....finished the cabinet
Here's a shot of the cabinet I built. It's "Bocote'" from Mexico. I'm happy.

Re: DIY Airbrake...
Nice job Tim on the Airbrake, but a couple of observations if I may. First the grey wire off of the varable res. end , the one that feeds the pot is touching the var. res. I might ty wrap that wire up with the purple and other grey to get them up out of the way of the HOT res. Second the stand off ...

Nice looking amp Tim! You gotta respect a guy that goes right for an Express on his first build! What kind of PS caps do you have there? I, (and I'm sure others here) would love to hear some sound clips. Jim Hi Jim! Thank you for the kind words! Here's the newbie showing thru again....if by PS, you...

Re: DIY Airbrake...
....So now the good news- the Airbrake works incredibly well. I've had it complete for 12 hours, and already I'm wondering how I've survived 20 years of playing tube amps without one. Even on the bedroom setting at the lowest volume, the tone is shockingly good. For the first three clicks, the tone...

Re: 1st Post, 1st amp, 1st time luck......meet Flo
I noticed you have wire insulation over the pots. I had to leave two screws off of my cover because I evenly spaced them instead of paying attention to where the treads would end up, but now I have a solution. Nice looking build. Hi Gibsonman63! I hear you, I drilled out the chassis and then during...

Re: 1st Post, 1st amp, 1st time luck......meet Flo
Nice looking build. The PRP GP1 resistors are some of my favourites, although I haven't tried them in an Express build yet. How'd they work out for you? Paul Hi Paul! Quite honestly, this is the very first amp I have built, so I have nothing to compare to sonically. But I can say that the tone cont...
