Re: Tube amp tone color
I always shoot for Bubble-Gum Pink with a little Forrest Green with my builds. That combination is really warm and sweet! It helps if you play them through a smokey sounding speaker like the C-Rex.

Re: protect yourself!
Bet it doesn't work as well as one of these.

I love Freedom
Every filament wire in every amp I make is green and twisted. It's only right. I consider it a tribute to our way of life.

Re: Power Cord
Thanks XgamerGt03 for your input. I\m in the process of peeling off the ugly red cloth covering on the signal wiring of a Champ. I'm leaving the green and blue/black cloth on the filament/ground wires because I understand that insulation color has little effect when not directly in the signal path. ...

Re: Power Cord
Oh well. I thought a bit of silliness in the garage would be OK.

Re: Power Cord
Well, for 3500 clams, they should do something, no? I'm just wondering if anybody has tried one. I got this 120Hz buzzing I can't seem to get rid of, and was wondering if this cord would help. I'm gonna hold out until they offer free shipping or a 10 footer for the same price as a 6 footer. In the m...

Power Cord
Anybody try these? I'm trying to clean up the overall sound of my Princeton clone, and thought it might be the answer. It's a little pricey, but if it works.....

"I'm certainly no saint, but I try to be judicious with the F bomb around ladies and groups of people. Its called tact. When I saw the video I lost a little respect for ol' Dave. Jim" Yup. And ol' Dave sure as hell showed little respect for the people who (I presume) paid to hear his music. I haven'...

Re: The F Word
The whole idea of trying to get a crowd "pumped" by shouting obscenities seems a little disrespectful to the audience, and I'm not a fuckin' prude or anything like that. If the music isn't good enough to get the crowd excited, well....

Re: SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Up here in the Great Frozen North in Eastern Ontario Canada, we haven't had a real winter for the last two years. So far all the bad storms seem to be to the south in New York State, or north or west. Temperatures have been mild, and no snow to speak of so far. I'm not complaining.

Re: Does speaker impedance affect tone?
I agree with the 250R idea. Avoid arching in the O/T.azatplayer wrote:Most of my gear is 1x12, so if a speaker was to fail...?
If that was a true concern you can always put the 10 watt 250R from the speaker out to ground, OT saver.

Re: Hammond 1626 O/T
Maybe I should have said Tweedish. It's cathode biased with 2K screen resistors. I'm getting 383V plate to cathode and 375V screen to cathode. I'm using a new pair of JJ 6L6GCs. With an Amp-Head Dual Bias Tester, I'm getting a 36mA reading. Should I connect the secondaries in series to get the imped...

Re: Hammond 1626 O/T
Hey David. May I pick your brain again?
I did the calculation and it works out to a 6k reflected impedance with an 8 ohm load. The two secondary windings are the same. Would there be any advantage or disadvantage to paralleling them?

Re: Hammond 1626 O/T
Thanks for that David. I will do the calculations in the next few days. I'll do it with the secondaries in parallel, in series, and separately. I got this transformer out of a really poorly built Bassman/Bassmaster copy. It was originally hooked up with just the black and white leads for an 8ohm loa...
