Very glad you both posted those pics.
Tony, I see ceramic .002 treble caps in all 3. I would assume those are X5F , may I ask why you prefer them in that position?

Re: ODS 124 PCB Build
Ya know... I knew it could happen. But reading about it and hearing it are completely different things. indeed, it can be quite dangerous....I've heard stories of people jumping and pulling the chassis on to their lap or floor etc casing damage. After it happened to me I used to put ear plugs in wh...

Re: ODS 124 PCB Build
Have you tried checking/tightening the transformer bolts? Sometimes the laminations need tightening to reduce/eliminate hum. BUT that should be 60Hz hum not 120. Not sure other wise. ~Phil I did tighten all bolts and I ensured the enclosure for the OT was good and tight. Another thought. Marcus had...

Re: Any suggestions for quality solid core wire source
Oh wow...I forgot about small bear. I started off doing mods to pedals back in the day and then went on to amps. I used to order from them all the time. Good people. SmallBear has the best prices on Alpha pots and knobs I've found as well. Look at the bulk pricing Will do. Took a peek last night th...

Re: Any suggestions for quality solid core wire source
I have used apex jr for the solid core with the ptfe coating a few times and it has been great. The topcoat stuff from mojo or pre-bond from smallbear is also fantastic. Second vote for Apex. I'm stuck late at work but will go to his web site and check it out tonight. Thank you for taking time to make a recommendation.T Wilcox wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 4:30 pm Steve at Apex carries the best solid core I have found.

Re: Any suggestions for quality solid core wire source
I felt the same way for a long time now xtian. I guess I'm just curious if solid will be anything that I can hear a difference in using. There have been plenty of things that I never would have guessed I could hear a difference in implementing but have proven to do so. I will buy some of that wire ...

Re: Any suggestions for quality solid core wire source
See I've had the opposite experience, every time I use stranded, even pre tinned, I have failures with getting the stranded stuff to stay together and I eventually give up with about 2/3 of the strands through the hole and the other 1/3 is splayed all over the map :D ~Phil Ha, I do recognize that s...

Any suggestions for quality solid core wire source
So I decided to revisit this again, but the last time I did a long run that I guess got bent more than once and broke so I had to troubleshoot then redo. I would like to try solid core on just the V1 and V2 connects but I wanted to see what you guys have experienced with breakage and brands if anyon...

Re: New ODS chassis from Thailand
Most of us are aware of it. But we choose to to respect Alexander Dumble by not using his name on a copy of one of his amps. My feelings are a bit different than most. I dont want to make a counterfeit amp with his name on it but, if its his original design and exclusive tone circuitry then its a D...

Any interest in starting a GUT SHOT PICTURE Sticky?
I would like to have a place here on the forum where actual gut shots are located for study. I have looked at ones on Rob's site and we have some, but I think it would be a great reference tool to try to pick up on some lead dress and component choice, etc... if we had a specific home for them. I ra...

Re: First D Style Build Advice Needed
I did the same as Marcus did: tap a separate node from the B+ before the preamp nodes, but with its dedicated ground point (this is where I differ from M.'s layout), 100k resistor to lower the B+ around 380v (probably need to adjust, depending on your PT). The trick is really around the ground poin...

Hey Marcus, Happy Holidays! Hope you had a fun time. Thanks for the reference layout. I'll study up while I'm waiting on parts that seem to be getting delayed forever due to bad weather.norburybrook wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 11:58 am

Re: First D Style Build Advice Needed
I have put a d-lator inside these amps twice now, and came up with a board that respect the original design while embedding the d-lator. If you need one, I'll be glad to share. Hi Fred, Quick question. I am looking to build a Dlator into one of my clone/inspired amps, how did you tap in for plate v...
