Re: rocket head room

I remember trying that switched option for 260V / 300V on a Rocket with the Heyboer (230V here). I also tried the so called "half power switch", but all those extra switches kind of runs against the minimalist approach of the Rocket. As I did not care for either the 300V, or the half power, I stuck...

Re: rocket head room

ok here are my new voltages @ 260V b+1 = 288 b+2 = 279 cathode V = 8.9 power tubes; 1. pin2 = 13mv, pin 7= 279v, pin 9=272v, 2. pin2 = 13mv, pin 7= 279v, pin 9=272v, 3. pin2 = 13mv, pin 7= 281v, pin 9=272v, 4. pin2 = 13mv, pin 7= 281v, pin 9=272v, pin 2 is only an approximation because it seems to f...

Re: rocket head room

yea i used to have that switch but i got rid of it and wired it straight to 300 when i put the heyboer tranny in. im in Australia so we have 240 mains but i think the 290/260 switch is supposed to be like the comfort/speed on the new z wreck.

Re: rocket head room

awesom, thank you so much martin you'r a legend mate!

perhaps i should switch to the 260V tap on my pt rather then the 300V tap then?

and does this mean those power tubes are probably fried by now?

Re: rocket head room

b+1 = 330
b+2 = 320
cathode V = 10.3

power tubes;

1. pin2 = 20mv, pin 7=320v, pin 9=311,

2. pin2 = 20mv, pin 7=320v, pin 9=312,

3. pin2 = 18mv, pin 7=322v, pin 9=311,

4. pin2 = 18mv, pin 7=322v, pin 9=311,

Re: rocket head room

ok might be onto something here, i have previously swapped all the tubes out but i pulled a used set of el84's from another amp NOT a new pair.. duh. i just measured my cathode current and if i did it right then it looks like my bias is way hot at 50 ma cathode resistor has 10v across it 10/50= .2 ....
