Re: Silvertone model 1484 reverb

I've got a 1484 that I've had for a few years now. Head only. Mine is not pristine, and will require quite a bit to clean it up. So, I haven't tackled it, yet. I do have a 1474 that I have 'laid hands on' and it is in really good working condition, now. The reason I post this here is to show a bit o...

Got mine from McMaster-Carr website. I think it's under structural framing stuff. They have short and long pieces if you have a way to cut it like a cut off saw. Also all the connectors too...

Great! I've got an account with them. I'm headed over now. Thanks.

Do you have a source online for this material? I like your cradle design. Restoring old amps makes for sometimes difficult ways of holding the chassis. Yours will work on any.

Re: Voltage doubler no center tap

You can look at the 60's vintage Guild Thunderstar Bass or the Thunderbass schematics for a good example of what you want.

Re: variac

Search ebay for Staco variable transformers. I have a couple of these on hand, and used one in my breadboard build: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25004&highlight=breadboard The one I used in this build is rated for 3 amps. I have another 3 amp and a 5 amp. Of course, they are panel-moun...

Re: Another amp find

Do you have a lamp limiter or auto-transformer to bring it up on the first time?

Mostly, I have my hands in old amps, and occationally new builds or new amps. They all come up on a limiter, though I have brought them up on my auto-transformer.

Re: Gregory Mark V tube amp

Caution well noted. I completely overlooked what may be the perfect PT for this amp. It has two Secondary 110v outputs rated for 250mA each. That takes care of the filament load and more than enough for the amp. R15 may need a different value, as the original required a rectified 117v to it. My line...

Re: Gregory Mark V tube amp

Here's an updated revision to my drawing, presented as a possible project build. Found an error on C10. I now show it as an electrolytic, where I did not before. An isolation PT has been added, and the heater loop has been separated from the now isolated AC feed. I show a dropping resistor (R16) in ...

Re: Gregory Mark V tube amp

On the 12AU6 (V1), I have R3 and R4 labeled with component values of 1Meg, each. The original schematic shows only one value between the two resistors. So, I assumed that they are both the same value. You will have to confirm that for me, when you are able to look at the layout of your amp. Also, th...

Re: Gregory Mark V tube amp

I CAD'ed your drawing, so that I can now modify as I need for my radio cabinet. I may even leave it as-is (but, with isolation PT).

I've attached the CAD drawing and your original, in one PDF.

Re: Gregory Mark V tube amp

Glad you posted this. I'm very familiar with this basic configuration in little Harmony H-303's, Silvertones, and others. But, I'm thinking that this maybe the first time I've seen a Tremolo in one. I've been playing around with some layouts (drawings, only) of something like this to put in an old t...

Really good info. Have you had an opportunity to make a schematic? Please post one when you are able. Thanks.

Re: Pentode Phase Driver Question

In the guitar amp genera the common thread here is Jess Oliver, principle designer at Ampeg, who later left and operated under his own name. Of course everybody used designs from the tube manuals and RDH, and once one designer found something that worked well for a given application, competitors fo...

Re: Oliver Flyer

While searching for some Orange schematics I have, (somewhere amongst the GB of files) I ran across an Oliver Amplification brochure with various schematics. Unfortunately while several "G" models are listed not the "300". I just went over to UTube and the sounds of these amps are uhmm Fantastic! I...
