Re: Replacing transformer leads

I've replaced leads on the output side of a Bassman OT some time ago, as the original leads were cut too short.

It's not hard, but it can be hard. Be sure to use the right kind of rated wire, and reseal the OT again, so you don't degrade it's quality.

Got a Marshall 2204 in for a modification

Hi guys, Just wanted to share my experience about an 80s Marshall 2204 I had in for a modification. The owner wanted a more vintage-y vibe from the two channels. Basically it was too tight sounding, and too hissy on the high-gain channel. What I did was first converting the low-channel to a JTM45 wi...

Re: 1967 Gibson GA5T - filter cap replacement and other updates?

I normally disconnect the old can cap and use discrete caps inside. Most amps have a couple of places where you can mount a terminal strip for that.

Re: How about a subforum for woodworking?

There we go! What I was thinking, was a subforum where we could share build experiences, plans, designs, etc. - in the TAG-spirit. I do enjoy the culture of this forum, which is why I think the subforum would be great here. It's worth considering. I'm not as big a contributor to this enormous knowle...

How about a subforum for woodworking?

Hi guys, I recently started tinkering with making my own cabs, as I know many of you do here. Ordering the cabs in my part of the world is around $800 for a head + 2x12", but I calculated that the materials would be just $250. So I am ready to give it a go, as I am pretty handy and I've done some wo...

Re: Leaking Caps

I bought a whole lot of items once. Got amongst other things a package of Hunts mouldseal caps. Every single one was leaky and/or cracked in its moulded case, and got tossed.

Re: SE ODS

If you want to remove a lot of hum, my dad tought me an old 60/70s hifi-trick from when I was building hifi to support his studies: You connect the cathode (minus pole) of the first filter cap to the cathode (pin 3) of the power tube. That way the power supply hum will be injected out of phase. It's...

Re: HT Fusing

There's electrons flowing through the wires at all times - it's just the direction that's changing! If you're fusing a HT with no center tap, just connect it as you would the DC from the rectifier. A T500mA / slow fuse for small amps (30-50W) and T1000mA for bigger amps (100W). If your HT has a cent...

Re: Health Care

We danish conservaties (no, we aren't extinct yet!) have a saying: "We want the stat to be as weak as not to crush the individual, but at the same time strong enough to help those in dire need". Personally I feel this is very true indeed. I hate paying taxes, because I see what the results are. The ...

Re: strange MASTER VOLUME noise (FIXED)

Have you tried doing this while unplugging your guitar cord? Or turning down the preamp volume? This would reveal if the noise is coming from either of these two sources.

Do you have a schematic for this amp? Or one you started out with?

Looks interesting!
