Re: Regarding the B+mosfet reducer and power ground

You've got it right, from what I can tell. It can be quite intimidating to connect the B+ Reducer. I always crank my bias to the most negative voltage possible, leaving it grounded to the chassis, before I insert the Reducer, then adjust the bias pot/resistor for the proper bias with the reduced HT....

Engraved and holes cut in CNC. Yes, sockets are hardwired.

Re: uTracer (Micro Curve Tracer)

Here's what I did...2 x octal (1 for an expansion plug) and 2 x noval (one for 12**7s, 1 for EL84s).

If anyone would like something similar, just let me know.

Re: Effect Pedal building

uhhh oh no i trashed my missile battery control panel too soon IMG_9606.jpeg Btw... This is a Dwarfcraft (out of business) "The Great Destroyer" clone. Story goes, they ordered the wrong chip for a fuzz (don't quote me on that part) and ended up with a box full of weird noisiness, all interacted up...

That's awesome, Tony! Remind me how you're etching the aluminum enclosures?
Engraving them on the CNC. I spray paint or brush paint then block sand to remove extra paint.

I etched them with ferochloric acid using Press N Peel as the mask.

Re: Stirs Neural pot

Miles... I totally dig your descriptive prowess. Teach us how to use SSL... ? I wish the ToneX had the effects capability of the QC. The only way I see is to forgo the cab IR, output to FX chain to real amp or other. Using the FX return of an SSS with cathode driver seems to be the way to go....

Re: Stirs Neural pot

The Dumbles on this ToneX are pretty darn good. The sustain I wondered about is there in spades... Very realistic. Makes me want to model some of my creations for others to demo. Learning curve isn't very steep but I haven't do e as deep as Miles, so some remains to be seen. I find myself smiling wh...

Re: Stirs Neural pot

How many stars would you give it, say 0-10? Plexis in series... I didn't realize that was a possibility. The ToneX I am playing with is quite impressive and useful. Bought it used but still get the original Max software... can't complain there. Also, it came loaded with a bunch of paid for models - ...

This exact amp has been modeled for the ToneX Pedal. Comes with the Max software with purchase. Don't ask me how I know.

From the link above: "JUST GOT SCAMMED So I ordered a power transformer off of eBay. It was a Hammond Transformer and the price was really good. It was supposedly delivered today, but the picture from UPS shows somebody else's front door. So after a couple of hours of research and talking to UPS and...

Re: KiCad design files for a bunch of projects

Transistor is used if you need to switch multiple relays from one switch. Also you can use LED indicator either in the amp or in the pedal without needing any additional circuit. Just connect a LED from CTRL to ground and when you short CTRL to ground the relay switches and led turns off. Hey, than...

Re: Question covering with one piece of Tolex

I usually rest the wet side of a cab on two pieces of wood... 1/2" or less square by about 20-24". It doesn't seem to ever affect the end product in a negative way. I do like the "bed of nails" idea and may switch to that if I ever change things up.
