Re: Amp Cradle
Maybe a photo will help . . . is there anything clamping the lower rod in place, or is it just a snug fit in the holes?

Re: Amp Cradle
Jeph made the best ones I've seen. I have one of his solid oak models. He also made a mini version for 12x8x2 chassis. He also made me a pcb extention arm...sweet! I'm trying to make one of the jeph-style ones. Can someone who has one of the originals tell me if there are thumbscrews on the bottoms...

Re: Parts for New ODS Build
If the red LED in the chrome housing is all that you want from Radio Shack, it looks like you can get the same thing from Hoffman: http://www.hoffmanamps.com/MyStore/perlshop.cgi - click on lamps/diodes/switching; it's the first thing on the page. He ships overseas, and is usually very fast. He also...

in the next few years, North American business men will bring back production and manufacturing where it belongs...in North America... The only way I can see this happening is if the Somali Pirate Navy expands to the point that they start buying submarines and go global, and the cost of shipp...

Nice work.
I was actually wondering the other day if it would be OK to put one of those metal-jacketed power resistors on a circuit board, as opposed to bolting it directly to the chassis.

Re: Getting that Dumble or D Clone Tone?
I have heard plenty of clips of other D'Lites, Ceriatones, and other 50 watt clones that had the tone I want. Yes, but have you been able to produce the tone you want, playing through any amp? Unless/until you can answer "yes" to this, all this fiddling with the amp might just be an exercise in tai...

Re: Hiwatt DR504
The soldering in this area is not factory. You can say that again . . . Can anybody tell this beginner what he is looking at? I think the term you're looking for is "bodge." What gldtp99 said - although Mhuss's power supply diagram http://mhuss.com/Hiwatt/Layouts/PowerAmpLayout50.gif suggests UF540...

^ I have a '64 that looks just like that, minus the Bigsby and the pickguard, but with Schallers and considerably more belt rash.

Re: 3 Prong Power Cord Install???
If I'm following this correctly, the thread was started by lakehaus. Hired hand's post that you quoted was advising lakehaus how to do what he asked about. Lakehaus' subsequent post, which I quoted, seems to indicate that he did the opposite of what hired hand advised, with regard to the hot and neu...

It looks like six to me, if one of them isn't supposed to be for a bright switch.
