Re: Beginner Dumble build?
drew makes some good points. I'll try to help, also. There is no such thing as a Dumble build for a beginner builder. These are as difficult to build as they are rewarding to play. I would also suggest a less ambitious build first. I started with a Super Reverb, then converted it into my first Dumbl...

I'm lazy. I need input jacks and a 50ufx2 @ 500vdc cap. Tube Depot has them both (JJ cap). Anything wrong with the JJ caps? You guys know of a better/cheaper source?
Thanks!

Re: Dumble style 2x10" cabinet
Thanks for the pic! Looks to me like a downsized 2x12.
If ya ever get a tape measure in the same room as that cabinet, please let us know.
Thanks again for your generosity.

Re: Adding compression / sustain
Local feedback loop on first gain stage like Dumble ODS might add just enough "squash" for you.

Very cool. Would you mind sharing some details, even photos, with us? I'm curious as to how his design is modified for smaller diameter speakers. Oval back vs sealed vs ported?
Thanks for your reply!

Re: guitar cable
I also really like the Mogami.... well, I used to. It sounds very good. The problem I had with it is that it breaks. Maybe I'm rough on things, but it just wasn't reliable for me. I have a Planet Waves cable that I've used for a couple of years that I like very much. I can second the Conquest USA-1 ...

Re: Good choice for clean, full, balanced amp?
My experience is that the 6V6 amps run out of "clean steam" before they catch up with my drummer. My Deluxe Reverb barely can keep up without going into distortion. I might suggest an amp that can use 6V6's for small gigs, and 6L6's or EL34's for a larger venue. I have a JTM45 that I used that way i...

Re: G12-65
I'm kinda embarrassed as Jim is a re-coner (Scumback). Sorry Jim. I bet your recones are the best, but they aren't cheap. I have a JBL G125 and a Celestion G12-85K that I'd like to get fixed, also. Yes, I'm a Speaker Hoarder... I've been playing the '65 and I'm starting to like it a whole bunch more...

Re: Obama care what it mean to my household
I don't know. What I would do is exactly what you are doing now-ask someone what this change will mean to your family. I would also check with my employer to see what it will cost to add your wife and kids to your existing plan with your employer. You and your wife have jobs. I bet you never thought...
