12at7 in PI/V3 works very well. these are cheaper than 12ax7s as well.
NOS suggestions: Mullard, Siemens/ITT lorenz

yes, I liked the ecc81 in V3. the 5751 in V2 was ok, but not great. too smooth for me. not aggressive enough
