Because there will be no difference in tone between cathode or source/emitter follower. It does not provide voltage amplification which is responsible for tube/transistor "feel".

Looks like kind of hardwire, if so, probably not that big problem, the hardwire goes through eyelet, you solder it to socket, then solder to eyelet and finally cut hardwire as close to solder as you can get. That's how I would try to do it.

Could you share schematic ? The tone is to dieee for, and what I really look for.

Here is simulation of filter posted by bendo, what I dont like about it, is that it's not very steep, you might try twin T filter. Values for R3 in Twin T are from 1k to 100k.
