Re: Bandmaster Ultra Phonix Amp
Hello Marcus, Yeah your right those are not exactly Bluesmaster values but they are close enough that I would call it more of a tweeked Bluesmaster than a modded Bandmaster. What I'm really responding to though, is the little note Dumble put on the amp saying no one can look inside the amp because ...

Re: Pacific Transformer noise
The transformers are buzzing when playing attenuated quietly is when you can hear them. All transformers make noise but I wasn't really sure whats making the noise. I think its output transformer. My last set didn't buzz this much that I could remember. RJ opened up a set of Pacific reissues and I ...

Re: Is the HRM a lossy tone stack?
Can I achieve that with valve swapping or do I need to adjust the dropping string 22k resistor? M Marcus, that is a very good question and I wish I could answer it in just one sentence. The most obvious least laborious method for is to just swap tubes, but then again what if you like the tube that'...

Re: Is the HRM a lossy tone stack?
I personally like V2 10 volts higher, around 190-95 for an HRM. The trimmer settings and V2 voltage makes a big difference IMHO.norburybrook wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2017 10:53 am
what's the window for V2? I'm seeing 181 and 184vDC

Re: Goop - please correct me if I'm wrong
I have an argument with someone who claims that HAD used epoxy to pot the preamp boards in his amps. Didn't he use RTV silicone? This fellow claims that all the amps in the photos with silicone goop were altered by non-authorized personnel. Which of us is out to lunch? Thanks. It's Permatex gasket ...

Re: Is the HRM a lossy tone stack?
thanks guys. I'm going to get the amp back out of its cab today and do some experimenting with this and different value cathode caps too. all good stuff :D obviously all this is guitar /speaker dependent so I can see how HAD could 'tune' a particular amp/speaker/guitar combination for someone. Beca...

Re: Is the HRM a lossy tone stack?
Just doing some tweaking with mu 50w HRM and was wondering what effect the HRM tonestack had on the OD. I presume like most if not all guitar tone stacks it's a lossy one, ie.e it only cuts frequencies. If so I would presume then it would cut the gain on the OD channel. Can the HRM be put on a swit...

Re: 1972 Fender Champ Kit AA764 circuit available?
TM, link to the circuit looks right, but I'd also need the combo cab. The link you sent me for the rebuild kit (thanks by the way), only has the parts for the chassis. They don't list a cab. I'm starting from scratch on this, so I'd need it all, minus tubes and a speaker. Think I'd prefer to go 12"...

Re: 1972 Fender Champ Kit AA764 circuit available?
Ok, as the title says, I'm looking to get a Silverface Champ kit (no vibrato), and then put a 12" speaker into a combo cab. Checked Mojotone, no dice, blackface only, and I want to get a 4/8/16 ohm capable output tranny for it, just because I like the versatility, and I've got way too many frigging...

I see it every day at work.... I'm a middle school teacher.... These are the days of instant gratification.... YouTube, Google, video games, parents who give them whatever they want the moment they want it and let them move from thing to thing on a whim... everything a kid could want is at their fi...

The slow, secret death of the electric guitar. And why you should care. http://wapo.st/2rGOr3k Discuss . . . That article was in my local paper a few days ago. I ran across this awhile back, it is good reading about GC, but one man's opinion so take it for what's It's worth. http://www.ericgarland....

Re: Fitting Twin Transformers to a D'Lite?
Thanks for your reply. I did initially look at the Heyboer Vibrolux transformer set, but I couldn't guarantee the desired results for the expenditure. The D'Lite chassis will take four output valves. Currently the owner has a choice of four 6V6's or two 6L6's. The output transformer will fit on the...

Re: Fitting Twin Transformers to a D'Lite?
I built a D'Lite for a guy many years ago and on the weekend I received a call from him. The D'Lite amp is essentially a #0102 amp with extra features. It uses the stock D'Lite transformers, which I thought were fine. The owner has been talking to Brandon, who advises him to turn the amp into a Sky...
