It's been a while since I looked at it, but believe the cap between stages 2 and 3 (C8) has a substantial effect on the bass output. It's part of a HPF and Ken's default value really chops the bass.

My understanding is the Penta Labs are cherry picked shuguang's.

Haven't done it on mine, but if I were to put a handle on, it would be inside the box. Attach a handle-length, rectangular block inside the backside upper lip. Sized just right so the back of your palm is on the top of the cab, with your fingers wrapped around the block.

Right now it's a VVT X-40. Dumble-ish type Overdrive. Great cleans, overdrive, and loves pedals.
