Re: Class A/AB switching
Are you confusing class A with cathode biasing? A single ended amp (one power tube) is clearly Class A because it is not a push/pull circuit. A push/pull circuit that is cathode biased, regardless of the method used, does not imply or mean Class A. Push/pull Class A is defined by the idle current. Y...

Re: Dealing with pickup squeal at the amp.
Can you record/demonstrate this and email to me at begnater@aol.com? Trying to help determine if the problem is the amp or pickup squeal.

Re: Guitar volume pedal
This just said to essentially "buffer" the input to the pedal so all your guitar "sees" is the buffer.

Re: Guitar volume pedal
There is really no such thing as a totally transparent volume pedal. The pedal is basically a duplicate (depending on the pot value) of the volume pot in your guitar. Also, when you plug in the passive pedal, you are "loading" your guitar pickups etc. more than the amp alone, which will also affect ...

Re: Dealing with pickup squeal at the amp.
Is the "squeal" a steady tone or does it change when you move around/away from the speakers? Does the frequency of the squeal change when adjusting the guitar volume knob?

Who is who?
I am new to your group. Curious who the "regulars" are. Who is Shawn? Who is Talbany? Are you guys from, or own, Two Rock? Just trying to get a broader picture?

Re: Custom Shop
Can one make a living just doing that....I doubt it. I have lots of other stuff going on too, so it is a feasible thing to add more chaos to my life, but in a good way. Trying to add (bring back) something really fun to my existence.

Re: Cathode Bypass Switch thump again!!!
I think no matter what you do, you may get some pop because of the abrupt bias shift. I would suggest trying Structo's method. Yes, you don't get the exact DC bias current as you would with changing resistors but the AC LF response will change and be very close to what you want with maybe no pop.

Re: Custom Shop
At this time only custom orders and modifications. What is your DIY idea? You know we already do classes where you build an amp? We also have been doing other classes that are teaching only, no building. Much more in depth presentation all about amp circuits, etc.

Custom Shop
Not sure if this is appropriate to post here? If not, tell me to delete please.
After all these years, I am considering starting up the custom build/modification shop again. Not repairs but a place where you can turn your ideas into a reality. Sounds like fun?
Thanks
Bruce
