Re: Electric Guitar Strings
Thomastic infeld jazz bebop 14-56's if I'm feeling flush. They last forever but a bit pricey. Otherwise D'addario XL's. 13-56. I use the same strings on all my electrics, single coils, mudbuckers or P90's. I have big hands and just laying my hands on the neck pulls 9's or 10's off pitch. I think all...

Re: Gravity Picks
When not using just fingers, I use a Wegner pick. It has a thick body with a canted edge that gets rid of the clacky spike on the initial attack of notes. They make several styles. The one I like is the giant one with grooves cut in the center, it never falls out of hand. The down side is cost. ~ $20.

I scored a matched QUAD of Telefunken EL 84's from Germany. Best $160 I ever spent! No problems with the transaction either. 1 week to my mailbox.

First i'd plug into another speaker cabinet to verify the source of the problem isn't the speaker.

Re: Fender 94 Twin cut-out at high levels
I'd try reheating the joints on the smoothing cap /resistor junctions. The fade in and out sounds like draining of the filter caps after the rectifier path is interrupted. Look at the rectifier thru the filter caps / resistors.

Re: Anyone cathode biased KT66's @ around 460V?
Isn't the combined bias the main reason the early silverfaces were such tone killers?

UL OPERATION
Rocketeer, relocate the screens to the UL taps on the primary, remove the screen resistors as they are no longer needed, and will degrade the transformers control of the tube. As for the feedback, i like little or no feedback myself. I like the sparkle and immediacy of tone that feedback takes away....

heat sinking sandy state devices
The silastic rubber insulators are more thermally efficient than the grease. Less messy also. The grease ruins clothing. The insulators are available in TO-220 and. TO-3 sizes from newark, allied and digikey.
