Re: Cabinet wood

Can you get pine boards where you live? That is a good option for the "shell", and 1/2" ply wood for the baffle. As others stated, mdf is a bad idea.

Re: Princeton reverb build. Speaker

I always prefer 12s. I even use one in my Champ Reverb and even though I play at very low volumes, I think the sound is much better (for my style). It's personal taste of course. The Champ has a Celestion G1265 (I know, crazy, right?), and I have an Eminence JS1250 (Josh Smith Signature) in the Prin...

Re: What're you listening to right now??

A nice detour from what we are used to from our friend Robben Ford. Seems like Nashville has been working out for him.

Re: Interest in retrofit JM Sig in a Fender Twin Reverb chassis/shell

I did what Colossal recommends when I built my JM Sig. I put the gain pot on the far left next to the inputs. If I ever build another, I'd also loose the toggle switches and one of the Reverb pots (probably the send), hard wiring the toggles internally, but having some reverb send level available on...

Re: little Blue Amp

On of the nicest projects yet. Very impressive. I put a Celestion Alnico Gold in the JM Sig I built. I demoed a Two Rock at NAMM several years ago and that is the speaker they were using in their newer take on the JM. Worth looking into. Very nice speaker for that circuit. Curious about the weight o...

Re: Customized Princeton Build: Mods suggestions?

I altered the layout to make it flow a little better, added another filter cap, and did a few mods from Rob's site, specifically, the "Paul C Mod", as well as adding adjustable bias, phase inverter grid stop resistor, and grid stop and screen resistors were added to the power tubes. The modded amp i...

Re: Eminence /Pete Anderson Hempdog 12

I love the Josh Smith Sig. in every amp I've tried it in, although I'm not sure if it was EVM12 inspired. Might be though.

Re: Turn 5E3 clone into a Deluxe Reverb?

I haven't taken the time to look at 5E3 topology, but the Dumble Small Special came to mind. 2 X 12AX7s plus 2 X power tubes. Nice sounding amps and pretty simple for a Dumble. You might be able to use what you have to get one of those. https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=30859&p=380747&...

Re: Rick Beato interviews Robben Ford

I too was lead to the Miles doc. Very good as well. As far as the new Ford record, Purple House, I guess I'm stuck in the past and missed #102, and the plug in, hit record, and play that Robben's bands are so good at. Some of the production was really creative, but a lot of it had that "assembled" s...

Re: Rick Beato interviews Robben Ford

Yeah. That was good. Rick made a point of trying to ask questions that hadn't been asked before in your typical guitar hero interview. I think he did a good job with that in mind.
