Re: R7=150K ?
:) I put a 100 kohm resistor and a 100 kohm trimmer in series to my Express and tweaked total value until I found the spot that I liked. My total resistance is at the moment 168 kohm. This combination did not cause any extra noice etc. The smaller the value of that total resistance is, the cleaner t...

Re: VVR for Fender Twin
Pulling two power tubes out was also in my mind to reduce output power. I have to discuss with this mate what can be done concerning VVR possibilities. Harry

VVR for Fender Twin
:) A friend of mine asked me if it is possible to use VVR also in tube amps over 100 watts like Fender Twin. I remember that this topic has been discussed somewhere but I do not remember where and when. I have VVR in many of my amps, but at the moment the most powerful is Plexi Lead with a pair of 2...

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
:D Excellent job Dana! That cab is also perfect for some female guitar player. When women buy cars, they always only look the color which has to be red at least here in Finland. I have been so busy with my everyday work and Bluetone customer projects that my Lil Devil project is delayed. Anyhow some...

Re: How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing
That is a good idea. The only problem that I see, is capacitors charging time when switching from one B+ voltage to another. I may try this mod when I have time within next weeks. Harry

Re: How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing
:DHi Mane! I have been playing in different bands over 30 yeras (I am 52 years now) and been building tube amps since I was 14 years old. To me this question of boosting sound level is not an critical issue. When my friend rised this topic, I tought that it would be a nice question to handle in this...

Re: How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing
Hi everybody. To me it seems that Harryk's friend is not asking for more overall volume but he'd like to be able to toggle between two different volumes. That way I suppose you could play with the guitar volume knob to go from clean to super saturated for rythm and also you could switch to a slight...

Re: How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing
:D Thanx guys! Very good opinions. I tend to agree with you with this case, but I have to convist my professional guitar player mate also. I am a little mad professor in my mind and that is why I try to seek new ways to do things like all guys here in Finland. This VVR idea is vey clever to try to s...

Re: How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing
 If you change the value of resistor going from V2a grid to ground from 150 kohm to some 220-330 kohm by switch, does it boost signal level or does it only increase distortion? I know that this can change also the sound of the amp, but you could have two cap/res sets (150 kohm/2,2nF and 330kohm...

How to boost volume level in Express for lead playing
 I gave my Express to a friend of mine to play one gig with it last weekend. He is a professional player and prayed Express soundwise. However he asked me if there is some way to increase amp volume level without changing its sound charasteristics when playin leads. I know that you have to use...

Re: Express Combo using 6V6s (Finished)
:D Dana! you are like a nuclear power plant with all that energy. Your red and white cabs look very nice. They really catch the eye in that exhibition. Because your cabs look so fabulous, I have also to test red tolex to my some forecoming Bluetone project. I hope that you still have a little time t...

Re: A new Bluetone Plexi Super Lead amp with VVR ready
:D Thanks of compliments. It is funny that an amp with name of Bluetone is actually red color but my next projects will be with black chassises. I bought those knobs from www.musikding.de. It is a german web shop. The time when I bought them, I could not find them here in Finland, but now there is a...
