Re: Another round of chassis
Very pretty. Pricing? Shipping? Should have more available in about 2 weeks. Price same as last time, $125 plus $18 shipping in North America. Will include mounting screws, counter-sunk finish washers and optional hole plugs for a couple of the power-tube holes if you need them. Right now we need t...

Re: Dumble note flipping caught on sound file!
You know that is Dr. Ika as he is called, right? I for one am just a bit skeptical of that clip. How can something bloom or feedback without speakers? I think I agree... sounds a lot like the characteristic feedback I hear all the time from the amps... not what I imagined as sag-induced bloom at al...

Can't imagine that it wouldn't eventually sound good, given how great your build looks!

Re: Dumble note flipping caught on sound file!
Note flipping is bloom minus the highs. Pinner and I confirmed over my house. When we used the amp with no cables, no bright cap, she went into nice feedback and bloom. When we used the cables, it rolled and compressed the highs, what was left was a stranger bloom that had wierd artifacts...the fli...

Re: Dumble note flipping caught on sound file!
Tag, I just want to say thanks for posting all the clips and videos. +1. This thread has really been really inspiring, although I had hoped to hear more bloom on the full chord in The Miller's Son intro you posted! The theory about sag-induced bloom contrasted with low-volume playing has really thr...

Re: Question regarding NFB
To take another tack... if you 'turn up' presence that essentially lessens the NFB associated with high frequencies giving more gain and less linearity to the highs... maybe that was what you were thinking of in the original post? Any master volume (e.g. Post Phase Inverter MV) that is 'inside' the ...

Re: Entry level recording equipment
@SurfsUp Agree with most of your step-by-step above, but I think it is important to create the original dry track while playing through the amp... you get the amp dynamics, etc. and the benefit of the touch/sensitivity feedback for the player. Then you can re-amp. The only drawback to this is if you...

Re: Entry level recording equipment
Ok, thanks for the feedback guys, but I think most of you missed the part about me knowing almost nothing about recording. Im afraid your going to have to dumb it down for me a little more. Surfsup mentioned the Prosonus Firestudio, but had misgivings about it. I had been looking at this alr...

Re: ax84 build question for Power Supply
The last stage voltages are simple calculations based on the voltage you want to drop... "The value of resistor used in each stage depends on the voltage you want it to drop. The current flowing from the power supply through the filter resistors progressively decreases toward the input stage." In th...

Re: QUINN "DUMBLE #183" CLONE ARRIVES.
There were requests, there were promises, and there was my post... a sad statement of fact. On this forum and ampgarage in general, I think we all like to hear great examples of tone, recognize the success of a fellow builder and share our knowledge to help others progress on their projects, b...

Re: QUINN "DUMBLE #183" CLONE ARRIVES.
One more Tele clip. On the chords, I pick really lightly and it stays nice and dark. Then in the lead, I pick harder, and listen to that upper end chime break out. SOOOO fine!!!! Its almost "magical". :P I have never even heard that in any of Fords vintage clips. Almost Vox EL84 like! #183 is SO sp...
