Re: Deathcap X2
I remember seeing stars for about 10 minutes in high school after arcing my lip to the mic.... We were too stoopid to even check for ground polarity.. it was inevitable that the PA was hooked up to another circuit in the building versus the backline... I carry a plug checker to this day to gigs for ...

Re: Power Up; Time to push some electrons!
Not to hijack the thread at all... but I am following what I see in Franny, and installed shorting jacks in both outputs....
Is this incorrect? Why does it work on the real Wreck?

Re: V4 / 5 1.5K grid resistor wattage
So there is some disagreement here... Should it a higher wattage than 1W? I agree metal film is quieter, I need to read up on Aiken's site on exactly what's going here.... I had ordered 3W metal film.. but the Franny pics threw me off, hence the question. They look regular old 1/2 carbon film to me....

V4 / 5 1.5K grid resistor wattage
For some reason I have this resistor listed as 2W metal film (Vishay BC). Looking at the pics of Franny and the undocmented '90 Wreck (see attached pic), they appear to be regular 1/2W carbon film...
I searched the board, but no joy. Can someone help me get this right?
Thanks in advance,
Ron

Re: Transformer Questions
I asked Moose about his trannys for the 'pool, and he said that it was actually better suited for it versus the Express....
He did not elaborate, but you could PM him to ask what he meant...

Re: Pot shaft lengths
Thanks for the info guys... Now I know what to procure.
Lonely, I will definitely be using one of your plates (once you get it set up for Allyn's chassis dimensions)- this info make me comfortable that I won't buy a set of $12 (ea) pots that won't work!!

Re: Pot shaft lengths
Thanks Allyn, I understand... but the facts are that there are different shaft / thread lengths spec'd by the OEMs for any given pot value per their spec sheets..... I'm trying to understand the physical dimensions so that I procure the correct parts, regardless of the manufacturer I choose to use. ...

Re: Pot shaft lengths
Right, so I guess what I really need to ask is what thread length is needed for a 1/8" faceplate, Allyn's ~3/16" chassis and 3/16" for the hardware....
The math says 1/2", but I'd love to hear from Allyn or a member who's done a build with his chassis to make sure....

Pot shaft lengths
I've searched the board all over and cannot seem to find an exact number on the required shaft length for the pots. Using an Allyn Meyers chassis and a typical wooden face plate uses about 1/4" of shaft. Room for a star washer between the pot and chassis and a beauty washer and nut on the faceplate ...

Re: Trainwreck pots
Thanks for the inputs guys. Allyn, do you have a good source for these lugs (maybe you??)??
I have seen these at Ampwares, but frankly don't want to deal with that supplier anymore.
Anybody else know of a source??

Trainwreck pots
I know this has been covered in several posts in general terms, but the question is: if you are building as close as possible to Francesca, what pots are you using? The ClaroStat / Westalbs and PEC pots are stainless backed, and it's impossible to authentically attach a copper wire grounding buss. D...
