Re: Danish oil finish on cherry head cabinet

Am I the only one who hates using tru oil? My issue is that its a self catalyzed finish. This means that new layers don't melt into previous layers, and this becomes very obvious when you buff through a layer. The easiest finish ever is Minwax Tung oil. I guess technically its a wiping varnish. John

Re: DIY tube mic preamps?

Mic and phono pre are very similar, minus the RIAA curve.

Looks good.

I see you do some of the stupid stuff I do too, like facing all the resistors the same way.

I think that's the answer for an electric car or drill that can be fast charged.

Depending on where the buzz is, bridge needs to be a little higher, or back off a little on truss rod.

You may need a strip of veneer for the bottom front/rear edges.

I use a pair of modified 8" fostex full range in an onken style cabinet for my bedroom system.

Take a look at this: WWW.planet10-hifi.com

Re: best finger joint jig

I prefer a template type jig.

A step type jig can accumulate error over a long joint.

I use the Leigh 24", got it used for about 250.

You can of course do them with a backsaw too.
