Re: VH100R just died after putting new tubes
Given that you retubed it worked for a bit and than failed. The fuse is intended to blow to save the amp from voltage spikes. Bring the amp up on a variac and make sure the amperage doesn't spike. If it does this indicates a problem. Since you didn't modify the circuit it would point to bad tubes, f...

Re: Fender junk
If its newer production they are made in mexico by old ladies. It's really common to find missing solder points I wish I could say it's rare but if it's new it's the first thing I look for in a fender

Re: Was this worth $400? and more treasure found.
As long as they are all original your looking at around $250 for the one on the right. $375-650 for the champ. And $350-700 depending the year and speaker of the one in the back.
Nice score.

Re: Tips on shipping a 4x12?
Don't use an airlines to ship it the last time I did.. Some yeti used it as a step ladder and broke the structural brace on the grill. As said wrapping it is good, cover over the grill if possible. Go to the local music store and ask about buying a box from another 4x12 if its a standard sized cabin...

These are pretty good [IMG:800:478]http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff388/randalp3000/IMAG0084800x478.jpg[/img] But I like this one much better now, I think plate current and resistance are very important to measure along with transconductance and emission. It cost me an amp or two but it was wo...

Re: tube tester
I have the Amplitrex. Nothing but great things to save about it. It's hooked up to the computer, prints test results and tube labels directly from test. I had a custom adaptor and test program created for the Ampeg V4 reverb tube. Runs on an isolated constant voltage transformer for rock solid accur...

Strong winds in OKC
It's been an exciting couple days in the Oklahoma City area. I'm sure more are to come. Moore took an F4+ tornado today. 1/2 mile wide touched down for 46min. I just got softball sized hale. It's a cluster fuck in moore now. Roads closed, school leveled. Plenty of warning and people just hung out ab...

Multiple voicing on input (resistive load) for active electronics. 3 selectable gain stages that can be inserted as desired or fully true bypassed. Off two 6k11 tubes (Ampeg reverb tube). It's three 1/2 sections of a 12ax7. Same tubs again for the EQ. A gain bypassable. Passive active buffered fx lo...

Re: Mic amps compressors and other kits
Keep in mind in order to retube the console you would need matched tubes on all similar sections. That gets both difficult and pricey. You can't call up tube depot and say "hey I need (48ch x's a dozen 12ax7, 3 12at7, and a kt11 all matched and perferably vintage) plus a couple exotic tubes in the m...
