Re: Hoffman style Xpress board
I've built many a Hoffman style amp and many of them in old fender chassis with the cap can on the back of the chassis. This of course makes some of the wires from caps to the point on the board long. This causes absolutely no problem at all and no noise. So, I wouldn't worry about the long wires, j...

Re: Stange things when putting the powerswitch off
This is normal. In fact, strumming your guitar after unplugging your amp from the wall outlet (without turning off the power or standby switch) is one way to drain your capacitors down to a safe level before working on the amp.

Wow, everyone and their dog is using my visio templates
I would suggest canning the 25 watt cement resistor for a 5 watt. The 25 watt is tremendous overkill and you can condense your board with the smaller one.

Is this just a problem with the 1502-4? I use the 1540-4 and don't have problems with the turrets deforming. Are the 1502-4 turrets thinner?

I have at least 10,000 books in my library. Really, all perspectives huh? Every single one known to man? How does one make such a determination? And how big is your house. Where the hell do you sleep with all of those books. Time to put on the waders, its getting deep in here. Just using an average...

You obviously don't do service work. I have no problems either. They feed my family. I've got a Peavey head coming in tomorrow for the third time in two months.Trigger wrote:I have no problems with a pc board.

Re: No hand wired amps at my guitar center
(putting on flameproof suit) PCBs are not inherently evil. Check out the VHT , Fuchs and (older) Fatboy amps for some sterling examples of how to do it right. However, most modern PCB stuff (pretty much everything at GC/MF) *is* crap, designed for minimum cost. --mark I've got no problems with PCB'...

Re: Updated Express Layout Again (V1.4)
I wish I had the time to send you my clone to scope out the difference in the two wiring schemes, but I use it most every weekend :D I'm sure its a minor mystery that won't reveal any epiphany. When I build one again I'll do the tests and inform all. It still amazes me that it makes any difference ...
