Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
WAY KEWL, Dana! Did you put our regular Express in the washing machine and hit the wrong temperature button? 8) Like small amps! Wonder how she sounds like. My Lil'Wreck uses on 12AX7/ECC83 and half of 12AU7/ECC82 as SE output and quite low voltages <170V. It's nice, but triodes are not pent...

Re: which is better for lower volume cleans, Express or Liverpul
Deluxe on 4...in churches...hmm... If you want the TW sound, I'd go for a 15 W Liverpool and add Dana's (UR12) VVR to control the power. Probabaly they'll expect you to turn it down a bit more and a concept with preamp distortion (see AX84, various higain pre's) and 6V6 PP would also fit the bill......

Re: which is better for lower volume cleans, Express or Liverpul
Hello seemore! What volumes are you aiming at? Small clubs? Living room? Bedroom? Even 15 Watts of a TW style amp into a single 12" guitar speaker will shake some souls in a house... Good: you'll get to know your neighbours VERY soon Bad: they probably bring some police with 'em That's why a lot of ...

Re: Another VVR2 in a Ceriatone Liverpool
Hi kineteks! Did you install the VVR and the added R's/C's at the same time? If so, I'd suggest to reset to usaual Liverpool layout and having the VVR as the only modification. Should be easier to track down the howl... I had some trouble with my VVR too, but it was not a kit from Dana. In fact, the...

Re: Solo boost
Hi! I have used the cascode stage (two triodes) of the AX84 firefly in front of Fender type preamps. Works great. Depending on the volumes it is not too compressed. Sounds a bit like pentode input stage. Wtch the maximum heater to cathode voltages...see http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=179...

Re: Another theory on the 25-watt resistor.
Hi guys! After a few hours of playing/tweaking TW style amps, I think Glen is right. OK, Glen is years ahead as regards experience...and playing, of course. Currently I tend to build TWs with "soft" power sections and/or not tuo much filterning. 40-50 uF for a two hole (2EXL84)pp Liverpool. Source r...

Re: Scaling 1/2 Liverpool - oscillations and other bad noises
Hi! testing...testing... Have played the regulated TW a bit :D 1. seems like the controls have become even more interactive now. Or maybe I didn't notice it before. 2. can be turned down to decent volumes in my living room, w/o totally sacrificing tone&feel of a TW. 3. Pot at 50% gives enough oomph ...

Hi! Resoldered some suspicious points, inserted 100k between pot and ground. Voltage can now be regulated between 30 V and 324 V at first node. Works fine now! I just didn't realize, how long it takes to build up some voltages in the filtering chain feeded via 1.7 kOhm ...shoulda known betta :? TNX ...
