Is tension pulling an exposed resistor lead to ground?
Otherwise, could be tension on a pot leg, could be a tiny nick in the sheath of a signal wire.. easy to sort out by checking continuity while OFF.
I think it is the input leg of an iffy potentiometer. I like guessing.

Re: The Lost Art of Cable Lacing
Here's one I did recently. Still learning, so not the neatest job... I used this cord. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096466JVD?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I have also used string for sewing leather, which I think looks nicer, but doesn't have enough wax to stick to itself. I have also pla...

I have Mullards in most of all amps V1. The 12ax7s ALL flash.

Re: Heater Wires - Elevate or Twist?
I also find them not to be critical as the quicksand so pervasive on TV from 1962-1984.
I do them in the corner on Marshall things, sometimes sheathed and parallel to each other. Fly them to the headshell shield and twisted on a tubes down amp.
Mark Fowler built an amp with them routed outside.

I would complain at you while saying that I have considered a similar thing.
It's a pinchy Express that can't make harmonics after 5 on the volume. lol

Re: Sloclone Forum login or register failure
We can do HG here.
It won't be today, but I'll bet we can get a topical section for just that. We actually should have a long time ago.
I'll start begging.

It has been a year since a conversation with a friend who mentioned similar problems.. it may well be dead.

Re: Marshall Hot Rod diode clipping connection method difference?
Actually, let's call this what is really is... It is the Peavey VT Saturation circuit. lol.. Dave... what a huckster. YES see that 1M is grounded? Look at the average Jose setup. It shows diodes (or the crippled spider) strapped over the outer lugs of a 1M pot. When you get bored of that rig, try st...

Re: Nuke Deluxe vs Express
When I really open the volume I moderate all tone controls very slightly. I am most often using G12/75's. Early eq setups need more attention that late eq circuits when changing overall volume. It might be interesting to build an Express with TS after stage 2, kill about 12dB after input stage and u...

Re: 2024 Monkeymatic Liverpool (nontraditional)
I changed that 150K to 33K, and changed gNFB resistor from 100K to 50K. Still way too bright. I'll have to spend more time tweaking. What are you playing into it? You should try 68k. That is what was intended. The coupler is too small to make meat, but with all that gain.. I actually use the 100p b...

Re: 2024 Monkeymatic Liverpool (nontraditional)
Hey Aaron, I just built my Liverpool for the second time. I used the 68k instead of the 150k per Miles suggestion. Mine has the high gain hiss but No extra noise. I also can crank the amp to 2 than after that it’s way too loud. I guess these amps are like the express as a lot of the volume comes on...

Re: 2024 Monkeymatic Liverpool (nontraditional)
Where did you end up on the third stage? I have no idea why the hell a 150k would be suggested other than joking about sustain and getting 100w peak transients out of a 35w amp. The high end response on my amp taps the stops on my meter. My 60w amps don't. Red light scares me. Do you know the Scorpi...
