Re: Hicks Mender I

Interesting! Is the weight of that whole assembly held in place by only the friction fit of the 18 pins? Also, rather peculiar the circular cutouts on the underside, where the tubes plug back in are dissimilar in size...

Re: 5e3 stopped working - blows fuses

So the last question: is it the same 5e3 ckt, Yes. As for current limiting; I hooked up my 300w light bulb current limiter and was able to turn the amp on. I was able to see voltage on the low voltage connection to the rectifier tube socket but the high voltage was showing 0 volts DC. I think this ...

Re: Bass Amp for a friend

This is more a question than a suggestion. I’ve put a bit of thought into this over the past ten years because I am very intrigued by the idea of AB2, but I’ve not done any experimentation to this point. What if you were to use an asymmetrical bipolar supply for the 12AU7 CF drivers? Let’s say you’v...

ODS Rev C PC Boards Now Available.

Hey all, Yes, this board drops right into the HRD line of amps to replace the not so desirable OEM board, but it can also be used for ground-up builds. Gold plated pads all around. Two-layer board with ground plane on the top side, so all traces have a screen on top, as well as on bottom (due to the...

Luigi RETRO-CUSTOM website is up

Hi all, I hope everyone here is doing well and staying safe in these dubious times! It’s been 10 long years in the making, and it has finally come to fruition. The Luigi RETRO-CUSTOM Amplification website and company are now open for business. I am starting with five products; all PC Boards aimed at...

Re: HRDx to ODS Conversion... Help Please!!

Phil, Martin,

Thank you both. Doing the layout drawing was an eye opener. In retrospect, I should have done it first. I learned so much about the process along the way. I will definitely be making a few changes for the next revision.

Cheers,
Lou

Hi All,

Long overdue, but finally done. Here is the HRD2ODS, Rev B Chassis Wiring Diagram. Please let me know if you spot anything fishy. This is my first drawing of this kind.

Many thanks,
Lou

Re: HRDx to ODS Conversion... Help Please!!

Hi Jason, I am in the process of doing a layout drawing for this amp. I have attached an in-progress pdf, that shows the Foot Switch Jack wiring. The volume difference between Jazz and Rock position is drastic, and this is just the nature of the beast. The effect of both the Bright Switch and the MI...

Re: Fender HRDX to ODS Build

Lou, I'm more talking about what Marcus was saying about the tweedle dee not being clean. It's not ods clean channel clean, but to my personal experience it's pretty clean for a lot of the volume range unlike what I hear about the tweeds... no? This was where I got confused... maybe I am ... just c...
