Re: Low wattage amps using 7 pin pentodes
Thanks Josh, I've listened to your Serena clips and I think the "High Voltage" clip has stellar tone and guitar work... which output tube was that? I've got a 9 pin PP triode amp in the works right now that was somewhat inspired by your Serena amp... I also have a 6SN7 PP amp that gets some really s...

Output transformer impedance info
My OPT has a 6.6K impedance with a 4,8, and 16 ohm tap and is suggested for 6V6's, 6L6's, and El-34's... It is rated for 40 watts. I have a good stock of tubes so I expect to try the various options until something sounds really good. I actually have a regular gig (church) where I just can't play ve...

EL95 - another great low budget tone tube
Lately, I've tried an EL-95 in my 6AQ5 champ circuit... and it's quite nice. These things are again very cheap and relatively plentiful... kinda in that magic spot where they aren't common enough for the big companies to use them, but plentiful enough that the price is good for the small time home b...

Thnaks for the help...
I've found a few more components and have the chassis almost finished... that is all the mounting holes done. I located a pair of output trannies as a package deal and also had to buy a couple big chokes along with them... still a good good price for the package. Now I have a duplicate of all three ...

Re: Dlite el34
Hi Ed,
What model do you plan to build? I was thinking of making a D-Lite with EL-34's. Would mind sharing info as you nail down the build parameters for using the EL-34's?
Thanks,
rj

50W ODS Clone - What output transformer do I want?
Hello All - I am putting together some parts and doing an inventory to build my first 50W ODS clone... I have a steel chassis 2x8x19 and a power transformer already mounted in it. The power transformer I have makes 375 volts per side, will that work? It's a big old heavy unit that I've had on the sh...

6AQ5 and 6V6 share some specifications...
I've got one amp that is a PP triode output and it works quite well. It uses a 6SN7 octal for the power tube. I've got another in the works that I plan to use either a 12BH7 or an ECC99 for the output tube. The hope in starting this thread is to find any builders working with or interested in some o...

Low wattage amps using 7 pin pentodes
Hello all, I've monitored the site for a while but this is my first post... I am delighted to have found this forum. I've searched for a few years for great tone in small packages. I've had some success using a variety of 7 pin output tubes such as 6AK6, 9001, 6AK5, 6AQ5, 6AN5, 6AG6, 6AU6...etc.. th...

Re: teaser of a new amp
Josh, What kind of trouble did you expect from the 6SN7's? Availability, reliability, or just a tone issue? I tend to always have my 6SN7 PP amp cranked and I haven't had a failure yet... it's been my primary amp for about a year now. I've been looking at building something with a 1626 triode pair i...

Re: teaser of a new amp
Oh Yes... I build for the sheer joy of it... I have this other career thing going on and I'll happily steer the production builds to you. I play exclusively at church so I'm always trying to get tone without being too loud. The talk has really been buzzing in our local group about the sounds of this...

Re: The real clips are up!!
http://revelationamps.com/serena.html Click the links for the clips. Let me know what ya think. O.K. I think I got it now... This is some of the best small amp sounds I've ever heard... Good guitar work in addition to the tone. This is a PP 6SN7 triode amp that I use. http://home.comcast.net/~rjgui...
