S-W124 from AES
I use these all the time, they are thin and fit a small strain relief, just clip off the female end and wire it up. plus, they are 12' long.

ok, thanks for your input. I think I have a line a reasonable facsimile, but I check out Fair Radio.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Benson knob search
I've searched around LA at various vintage electronics and radio shops but have had no luck in finding a knob for a Benson 300 amp. Ron Benson say's he has no more. This is from an early Benson 300. It fits a standard smooth 1/4" shaft and has a set screw. If you can point me in the right search dir...

Re: Hot Rod Deluxe, what's that rustling noise?
I spoke to the amp owner and asked if he had ever heard a faint rustling sound. He simulated the sound with his mouth perfectly and said the amp has done that before. So, I guess the repaired PCB is not the issue. I suspect the 16v circuit but he has been using it that way without issue so I'm done ...

Re: Hot Rod Deluxe, what's that rustling noise?
I checked the PCB after cleaning off as much carbon residue as I could and could find no conductivity around the board. But just because I could not find any does not mean that it's a possibility. Regarding the 2 470 ohm/ 5w (16v circuit) resistors; this amp first came to me a couple of years ago wi...

Re: Hot Rod Deluxe, what's that rustling noise?
All the 100k and the 82k (PI) plate resistors test good and in spec. Removing the preamp tubes (one at a time) did not change the noise. The only thing that seems to effect the noise is the "more drive" button. Engaging it reduces the noise by about 90%. Describing the noise more specifically; I'd s...

Re: Hot Rod Deluxe, what's that rustling noise?
Adding a 22uf/500v cap to each power cap had not effect of the rustling noise at all. All the tubes were changed out with known-good new tubes, that did not effect the rustling either. The bias is set to 70mV, Fender recommends between 60 - 90, so that should be good. I'll check (change) the plate r...

Hot Rod Deluxe, what's that rustling noise?
After repairing a Hot Rod Deluxe that had a small portion of the PCB melted by an aching cap (I jumpered around the damaged traces, replaced the filter caps and changed out the problematic 470 ohm low voltage resistors), I'm left with a rustling noise when the amp is on. It works fine, all the contr...

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
I received a nice note back from ProCo Sound and CE Distribution about adding a notice about the conductive shield layer to the product information on their websites. Thanks Dai H. for the example.

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
Mystery Solved! After reading some of the comments you provided, I searched the web for the specific problem the inner (black rubber) shielding being the issue. Sure enough, I found long-time electronics pros stumped by the same issue. I search ProCo's website, read their support pages, downloaded t...

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
OK, these photos show the "new" trim and the old, as i understand your comments. I checked the cords before and after making the trim change. They measure 0.00 ohms on my DMM. Is this correct? if so, I'll go back through all the patch cords and make the change. I could not tell a noticeable differen...

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
Thanks for the input. All the shrink tubing has been removed (it made no difference) and I took the cables to a guy that builds studio patch cables, mic preamps and stuff like that. He confirmed that the cables pass a signal but that there is signal loss. He had no explanation for it, he said his ca...

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
I've made new cords with new Switchcraft, G&H and even RadioShack plugs,
they all test good for continuity and none of them will pass a signal. In the exact same test conditions, other cords all work fine. I'm stumped (and I need to finish this guy's pedal board).

Re: Switchcraft type 226 plug mystery
I'd be thinking the same thing... believe me, I've tested the meter leads, clips, and done the tests you describe repeatedly. The faulty cords test good (correct continuity) on the meter. They test good with a signal (from two different signal oscillators) into an amp. But with a low mV signal from ...
