Re: Tweedle Dee - another latecomer (MODS: P12Q +Buzz +trim adj)
I have to say I'm liking the growing list of mods and such for this thing. I have bent a larger chassis with the plans of including reverb and a few extras for this amp. To that end I've built a 2-12 combo for my chassis and dropped a couple Jensen C12PS drivers into it......Wow , what a difference ...

79 Deluxe Reverb volume problem
Signal seems to be getting by this volume pot when it is turned down. Swapped the pot over from the first channel and the same issue . Anyone run into this issue ?

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?
Thanks Martin , I also found a aa1164 Princeton circuit that included a reverb and tremolo circuit. Same layout as the 5e3.

Re: Gain staging
Someone at Weber is freaking out . Just received a new reverb driver in the mail today to replace a bad transformer. No idea what their up to . We'll see what they send next week.

Re: Gain staging
Hats off to my unnamed supplier , Weber. Yes , unannounced and ten days later a brand new output transformer shows up in the mail. They didn't even ask for the bad one back , which gives me the chance to see if I can rewind the primary and get it working again. Way to go Weber.

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?
Not sure if this video has been linked here before Kenny Wayne Shepherd solo starting at 3:06 is the Dumble Tweedle Dee Deluxe with delay added by engineer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=125Rs4u1J8g Pretty much how mine sounds at 1/4 volume with a LP through a 4x12 cab. Cleans up unbelievably nic...

Re: Gain staging
Well after doing a comparison with my twin reverb I believe I have a bad OT right out of the box. I am driving a good 2.4 volts in both amps into the output tube grids. The twin is loud , the Dumble is barely audible. A primary winding comparison between the two shows the twin split closely between ...

youre right.martin manning wrote:Sounds like you have isolated the problem, but around 50V on the PI is reasonable. You are forgetting that a Twin has a 12AT7 PI.

Re: Gain staging
Thanks John , first thing I verified as the relay cards I bought were laid out backwards and I had to draw a conversion schematic. I suspect something around the pi as I plugged into the power amp in with a preamp and couldn't get any real output. I don't think it's biased correctly for some reason ...

Re: Gain staging
Just standard taper pots ,off the shelf. With the gain and master at 50% this thing should be loud. I'm getting up to 6 volts of signal gain from V1a. By the time I get to V1b I'm lucky to have a volt. The pi is sending 12 volts max to the grids of my power tubes with everything dimed. I'm losing si...
