Rock/Jazz Switch
I have a question about the Rock/Jazz switch. I modified the normal channel of my Twin Reverb with a Dumble style tone stack. Going from Rock to Jazz causes a great drop in my signal. I"m assuming that's not normal. I didn't incorporate the PAB switch so I didn't add the 22M resistors I seen on the ...

I do the same thing with input jacks. Especially for 4 input amps. It works great!

Re: MOSFET source follower for output stage of AB763 blackface
Here's something I can across about ten years ago or more.... It was around the time RG wrote the Mosfet Folllies and I think he helped this fellow get this circuit working... It has an alternative bias supply that's not as refined as Martin's but may work for some who want to use the existing supp...

Re: So, what's wrong with Switchcraft and JJ?
I agree totally with the Switchcraft issue. I still have one customer that has the switching jacks in his amp. I managed to fix them once after an issue (only time I've managed to fix the new Switchcraft jacks). I told him any time in the future they fail again to bring it and in & I'd replace them ...

Re: TAD tubes?
As far as TAD preamp tubes go, I've used their premium 12ax7 in V1 of a fussy Bogner a customer brought in. It worked great as far as noise & microphonics go. Tone wise I'm not sure, all those high gain amps sound the same to me

Re: F*#king 1/4" phone plugs!
I hate to jump on the anti-switchcraft bandwagon but I've had nothing but problems with their switching jacks. The first 5 amps I had built all ended up back in the shop with input jack problems. I replaced them with Cliff UK jacks except for one that I did manage to get switches to keep contact. Ev...

Re: Adjusting nfb resistor: 5F2A
More negative feedback (less resistance) results in a cleaner, tighter more focused sound, also less overall gain. Less negative feedback (more resistance) results in a hairier more loose sound, a little more easily overdriven. I actually put a variable NFB in my tweed bassman style amp. I replaced ...

Re: Just blew up my Peavey Classic 30
I've had a new el 84 do the same thing on my blues jr. I put anew set of jj's in and blew a tube within the first couple hours of use. I lowered the bias current & haven't had the problem since. With the peavey classic series check the wire jumpers that hold the board together. I've repaired a numbe...

Re: OT Primaries "backward" in a Push-pull amp...
What happens in a push pull amp with negative feedback is you turn that negative feedback into positive feedback if you hook up you OT wires wrong. In amps with no negative feedback (tweed deluxe for example) it doesn't matter.

Re: Are all current production tubes mediocre?
I got a few sets of Winged C 6L6GC-WC's to try. The first set I tried drifted so far after about 20 hours of use that I wouldn't even call them a matched pair anymore. Was this a fluke or has anyone else noticed this I've noticed it on numerous pairs. I've retubed some amps for friends and myself a...

Re: Any experience with Mojo Speakers?
I've used the British vintage 25 & 30 in a 2x12 cab and they sounded great. I also ordered a American vintage 10" for another amp and was surprised when it showed up it was just a relabeled weber signiture series 10" it even came in the weber box.
