Re: What speakers are you guys using?

trying a couple of scumback g12h clones with the 55hz cone

Yes those are nice.. you can go to the site and listen..or to the big shootout of all the real ones compared to the scumbag..

05 is the 55hz.. it sounds like a 5F6A bassman on steroids..!!

Re: What's your bias set at?

I'm sure its just going to vary from one set to the other, depending on brand or hot or cold rated the tube is. But i think the posts show it can be from 30 to 40ma somewhere in that ballpark.

Re: Birth Announcement!

Yep looks great.. i agree with Nitroliq, the main reason these amps are now turning out like the real ones,is from the pics that Allyn and HeeBGB posted. No guess work or maybe..its all there. All those fine details is what makes this amp work like it should. So now we have chassis, boards ,transform...

Re: Recommend a cheap(er) impedence selector switch?

Yes you can call electroswitch, and do a cross refference on the Stackpole number. Although the one Allyn has a is a 'Special" switch. So they don't have that one.. They have a C4D0206N which mouser has.. and a C4D0203N that is a 3 position switch. just have to look if your going to find any of the o...

Re: Express layout? I'm kinda stuck on my build...

Richie fixed it and sent it back
All except those cap values on the power supply board.. Not that that is a big deal, but just go by the same cap values used in the franchesca amp.

Re: Going to build an Express style amp need...

There are many types of Orange drops.. The ones in the Wreck amps are made very much like the mallory as in both are polyester caps. The PVC mallory, and 6PS Sprague.. and probably the 225 series would be fine in this amp along with many more that are along the same style. But nothing wrong with usei...

Re: Liverpool power supply (Ginger pics)

The trick with the half power is that you have to bias it in half-power mode, since the voltage creeps up when the tubes are disconnected, otherwise you'll bias it too hot
You've got that right.. if not you'll have a tube cooker :)

Re: Liverpool power supply (Ginger pics)

If i were to use the power setting option,i would go after the VVR type control. over the half power switch any day.. As for what some of you are describing..I built an 36 watter, that was a blend of both the express and 18 watt channel amp. Called it the TREX. Somewhere i have a layout of that amp....

Re: Another Express comes to life (my second build) New Cab pics

Both of the amps sound really good. They are just a very slight difference in the 2,one built from a donar amp,and the one that is cloned. So its hard to say better.. I think since the Junkyard amp uses a old OT..thats where most of the difference is between these 2 amps.. But what i wanted to say i...

Re: BOM sheet [build of materials]

Northeastern ky.. Ashland..

I have all the parts except the transformer, which i am having made,a bit different than the others that are used for this amp.

I was just wondering on the parts list [BOM] as to help others find what they need.

Re: Another Express comes to life (my second build) New Cab pics

Yes the amp sounded really good.. tight bass no mush, good string definition. And it sings. Both LP and strat.. Dana just got finished with it and brought it over. Its all working fine,no problems. You could crank everything and no oscilations or bad noises at all..very quiet really. He did forget to...

BOM sheet [build of materials]

Anyone done a BOM sheet for the express yet?
I know it might be hard to do,as for part numbers etc..but at least maybe just values and what is used.
