Re: Soldano SLO50 build

Whether my assumptions and calculations are correct, or not, have you or anybody else, actually implemented this mod? I can't really tell if Lothy's response is a thorough implementation of your schematic mod... :? Greg Hi Greg, I've implemented it and it works. It pulls the overall signal down a b...

Re: SSS #002 - Bias tap

For the cathode follower drivers, the negative voltage supply has to be around three times the grid bias voltage. The bias tap can be used to create a +/-170V bipolar supply to power the drivers, as I've posed several times before. Thanks Martin., Sorry, I couldn't find an equivalent posting on thi...

SSS #002 - Bias tap

Greetings,

I'm just wondering, why the negative voltage is tapped from the HV instead the bias tap (if there is one).
Did I miss something?

Thanks.

Re: Best way to start learning about amps? And in what order?

Start building an amp from scratch. There is no better way to learn than doing it. But that doesn't mean, to buy the parts, heat up the soldering iron and go to work. First you need to understand how a tube amp works and what all the parts do and how they work together. A very good starting point is...

Re: Soldano SLO50 build

The effects loop mod radically changes the gain at the grid of V4A, thereby changing the sound of the amp. Here is a design that doesn't change the gain. Re: Soldano SLO50 build

But the delays are slightly to dull for my taste. Does the 22u help me out with this? The bypass capacitor on V4B? Yes. I have a 1u there. But propablely not. I figured out, I have to use a different approach to dial in my Delay as I do it with my Dumble clone. The loop is in front of the tone stac...

Soldano SLO50 build

Greetings, I know, there is a dedicated Soldano board, but if someone uses the search function here, I want to give him/her the opportunity to to find solutions to some problems I stumbled uppon. First of all, I don't wanted the regular Soldano look for the amp. I'm a big fan of Dumble style amps an...

Re: The new dumble modded bassman build video series... begins!

Thanks all, I've got to record a demo, keep forgetting. I have a cradle but it's down in the garage and I built this up on a new work area I setup in my office... I should have brought that up but forgot like a dumbass... and paid the price. ~Phil A slightly bigger dog house would be a good cradle ...

Re: Corrupted PT

A good tip. Ever since Classictone went out of business, transformers seem hard to come by? Why not using Hammond transformers? I have standard Twin Reverb transformers (290FEX PT) in my build and I'm very happy with the result. For 50w use the 290EEX. https://www.hammfg.com/files/parts/pdf/290EEX....

Re: Reverb placement

The output of V3a to the input V5b. No connection to V5a from the reverb. Yes no feedback means no presence control. Thank you, yes, that's what I have done. But the signal has to come from somwhere to feed into the reverb. That's why I picked it up after the master volume before the coupling cap t...
