Re: A Smaller One...

Thanks dorrisant and Phil_S, You are setting a standard here that not all of us can live up to. I am very honored by your statement, but it seems still very ambitious IMHO ... Here are below links to some samples of The Paul GUILHEM Junior. Green Onions style, with my Squier Std Stratocaster : https...

Re: If I want to build a Dumble amp : which one ?

Fine Marcus, My goal is to integrate an Holy Grail Nano inside the amp itself (like on some of my other amps : Orient-Express, Val-King), and the HGN is guitar level, so an adaptation of the loop level is probably necessary (it may be the justification of the existence of the Dumbleator ?) and not a...

A Smaller One...

A Smaller One... The young brother of the Paul GUILHEM Deluxe : The Paul GUILHEM Junior. Originally finished in September 1997 as a 8" version combo, I rebuilt it in a 10" version, plus improved circuit : [img:1024:1088]http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/864053IMG0841red.jpg[/img] [img:1024:1115]http...

A Bigger One...

Hello All, A Bigger One : the Paul GUILHEM Deluxe. Originally built in October 1993, I upgraded the circuit and retolexed the cab in late 2014 - early 2015 : [img:640:480]http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/398391IMG2610red.jpg[/img] [img:1280:778]http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/544773IMG2325red.jpg...

Re: If I want to build a Dumble amp : which one ?

Thanks Jack for the information.

Here in Europe, tubetown.de has the chassis and the combo/head cabs to built a Dumble-style amplifier.

I will study the #102 and #114 schematics and infos, as recommended for a start.

Re: If I want to build a Dumble amp : which one ?

Thanks Marcus and Jack, So inserting a Holy Grail Nano in the FX loop of the ODS would give the result that I want, then ? That would be fine, Marcus... So the level of the FX loop is a guitar "-10db" level, if I understand well. Right ? I will have a further look to the 102, 124 and 183 models. Jac...

Re: The ORIENT-EXPRESS

Thanks C Moore, The name was given by a friend when he saw the tolexed cab : "it reminds me the Orient Express classy luggages and interiors", showing me this picture : [img:637:423]http://static1.purepeople.com/articles/7/28/19/7/@/193419-hotel-mamounia-suite-orient-express-637x0-2.jpg[/img] I desi...

Re: The RADIO-TONE

Fine, Thomas !
It all works with a small 12V 1A wallwart.
Aha ! So it is NOT a standalone amplifier

I will go to your thread for more information, then.

Thanks !

Re: If I want to build a Dumble amp : which one ?

Thank you again guys for your sourceful informations about Dumbles. It is not the 1st time that I built a tube amplifier (guitar or audio), fortunately : I started my 1st one in 1978. And I still and always repair, restore to its original condition or modify tube amps as a part-time job, for bands a...

Re: The RADIO-TONE

Thanks Thomas_H, What is your small "Paisley Box" amp about ? Is is a 220-240VAC standalone unit ? The tube seems not to be an ECL86/6GW8, but... ? Can you tell us more ? And that speaker you're using is gorgeous, it kept my attention for the first time. I need to find one of those, it looks awesome...

Re: The ORIENT-EXPRESS

No, I was referring to the pieces of what look like aluminum that you used to mount the chassis to the cab. Instead of the usual capture nuts on a flange. Ah, OK. Yes, I don't have the adequate tooling to do flanges for capture nuts. Nice job building these sweet little amps. Thanks M Fowler, A+!

Re: If I want to build a Dumble amp : which one ?

Thanks ayan for your description : I note it for further reference, when I will know more about the subject... I am still at the Dumble basics level of knowledge ! you will probably want to consider a classic build. OK, but : ODS ? ODR ? SSS ? HRM ? BM ? I am searching / discovering step by step wha...
