And after all the hype about the Baker's it's oh, so, sweet seeing him play a Gibson......

Re: First time build....and it almost works...(help appreciated)
Great! Its much easier to find the missing wires with a methodical voltage check. What I hate is when I've ADDED a wire somewhere that doesn't need one. That'll get you scratching your head! Well that's just fantastic. What did that build take, about two weeks? Now the tweeking begins for that perfe...

David: (That's it I think?) Anyway, two things; I'm gonna use your build as a goal for my own work. That is phenominal quality. Two, tube sockets are numbered counterclockwise from the bottom with pin #1 the first one on the right after the gap. Or in Octals after the center pin marker. Not that I c...

Re: another question
OK, I have a question about chokes The one in the link is rated 1.5k, I think mine both measure less than 100 ohms I believe that the 1.5K is impedance, not resistance. In that case your measurement is unimportant. I measured one of my chokes at 80ohms so I'd bet you're fine. This is a wonderment t...

Re: 2 x 12'' cab drawings
Hey, that amp looks alot like mine! What an odd coincidence. The specs I used are: Cab = 20" High x 10 1/4" Deep x 20 3/4" Wide Rear baffle = 16" high Oval = 11.5" x 9" For cab dimensions for a 2 x 12", check out a two rock 2 x 12. Edit: Looks like you already got it. Normster, are you...

Gorgeous Build Mister! Well, it's apparent that you designed this thing yourself. Not usually a good idea for someone with your experience. And so it goes. Congratulations! #1 We need to start with a schematic! Draw the sucker up and post it. #2 We need a full round of voltages! Plates Screens Grids...

Re: Duncan's PSU, 12AX7/6V6/EL34 plate current?
You need a tube manual. Your 12AX7s are probably not goint to use that much per side. I would say total. Subtract the plate voltage from the voltage on the other side of the plate resistor (say 75 volts?) and devide that voltage by the resistance of the plate resistor. That's your current for that t...

Alexander's open back cabinet research unrevealed.
Take a close look at this cabinet. I have looked everywhere for the dimensions of that hole because I built that exact cabinet a long time ago. I never throw anything away but I can't find the drawing Howard gave me. That's an Altec 417-8H in there. I've got an -8C here and it measures 12.125 inches...

Re: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know: Pictures & Diagrams
Yes indeed, thanks from me too. A couple of notes; That's not the build quality I had expected. It has all the highest quality caps and resistors but the tube sockets are nothing to write home about nor are most of the mechancal components. It's no surprise I think, that there are mostly carbon film...

Re: Wrapping versus shielded cable?
Did HAD use something like RG318, or 178, 179? this stuff is a small version of RG59 (about .125" dia) but with a much lower capacitance/ft. I acquired a 50' roll of RG178 for a bargain and use it for any shielded cable in the chassis, and well, it works for me, no problems with loss of dynamic ran...

Where in the heck are you finding pots with pull switches?
Funks chassis shows three switch holes. Bright, mid, and jazz/rock. There are Five switches shown on the Rev A schematic. I would like to put my bright on my global master (1 meg audio) and the deep on the Bass control. Both pull type. I will use the hole labeled bright for HRM, mid for mid, and Jaz...

Re: Mercury 045RS-L
This OT is their clone of the famous "Radiospares" Deluxe OT that went out in the first 20 Bluesbreakers amps. There is one on Ebay right now at $405 bucks. Paul mentioned using the 16 ohm secondary tap with an 8 ohm cabinet and then using the 8K primary tap for 6L6s. At least I think that's what he...
