Re: Fucking magnets. Fucking PROGRAMMABLE magnets!
I have that set at work shown from 2:30 to 7:30 in the video. Been too busy to play with it, being the principal engineer on 3 major projects takes all of my time. Check out this link for more:

Re: SE EL34 Plexi-verb
The circuit you linked from Frankleslie is using BTDR-1, and you are using BTDR-3, right? If so you should use the mono version in the Belton BTDR-3 application notes. Since you have a single 15V supply, the terminals marked Common should be supplied with Vcc/2 from a voltage divider from your 15V ...

Re: SE EL34 Plexi-verb
Phil, it is a dual op amp, pins 1 2 3 and 5 6 7 are respective op amps. Pin 7 is the out. I'd probably strap a 100n film cap across pins 4 and 8. Make sure there is a dc blocking signal cap on the output pin 7.

Re: SE EL34 Plexi-verb
1st stage of the TL072 is set up as a buffer. The second stage is set as an inverting amp with a gain of approx 7. With a gain of 7 it needs the 15 v rail for head room. Note the symmetrical pull up and pull down rails acting as a virtual earth centering the signal in between the +15v rail and groun...

Re: el84 in triode
My experince is that triode muddies the tone and feel of the amp. I've built a handful of 1/2 watt and 1 watt solid state amps that can still be too loud through efficient speakers. IMO, your best bet would be a good master and power scaling combination. Before going to triode, I'd suggest simply lo...

Re: Need help with building the right amp ( update)
Chokes have inductance, resistors don't - in this context. Study R C and L C circuits and understand how L C circuits can reduce ripple.
See which one will give you the lowest voltage drop for a given current for the "same" amount of filtering.

Re: Active Tone Controls
Active tube controls have been around for a very long time. Playing with them some 20 years ago it was apparent that the bass could be over whelming easily. What signal level are you expecting to handle with your op amps? Expect to attenuate the signal 40 db or more depending on the amp / location a...

Re: Mini Z Questions
Hey Tony, I'm just throwing out food for thought. When I was active on the now defunct powerscaling.com forum, KOC always liked a healthy amount of screen resistance and he also talked about using a regulator to drop the screen voltage on SE EL84s about 30 v under the plate IIRC. Maybe you could rec...

Re: New Half Power Express
There are several fundamental differences between VVR and London Power's power scaling. London power allows you to maintain the rail voltages at the caps simplifying what is scaled. I"m in the scale the plates and screens, clamp the PI and pre voltages camp. This coupled with a good master volume su...

In Dana's defense, I'm sure providing support to all of the problems that come along with uneducated installs, could be overwhelming to say the least.
