Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS

Thank you very much, Martin! I was wondering why I was only getting 7VDC out to the relays.
Instead of rebuilding the whole board. Is there an alternate transformer you would recommend?

Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS

I have built the footswitch (forgot to grab a picture of it this morning), went ahead and tested the relay wiring to check for shorts. I applied a 120VAC source to the relay PT primaries, footswitch LEDs all work as they should when the relay switches are in the pedal mode. No FET on this one. I tho...

My take on a 2nd Gen ODS

Hey everyone! 2nd Gen/70s builds seem to be the trend around here so I thought I would add in the latest one I have been working on, a 50 watt model that will be going in a 1x12 combo cab. - Chassis, boards, and 1x12 suede cabinet by Taylor at Amplified Nation. I cannot praise enough the quality of ...

martin manning wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 4:57 pm Its seems that HAD didn't develop that big loop style until a bit later. You're right, layout drawings are somewhat idealized, but hopefully they convey the essentials.

Turns out there's a font for your logo, "Steadmanesque."

Re: 2nd Gen Build Started (that didn’t take long…)

Here’s a random new guy question: Given the space and alignment issues I’m experiencing with this build, is it a bad idea to put the V1 and 2 terminal strips up on washers - allowing the plate leads to pass underneath - thus providing more separation and shortening them by 33-66%? Anybody ever done...

Re: 2nd Gen Build Started (that didn’t take long…)

Very nice! I'm about to start work on a 2nd gen with switches like that. How did you implement deep switch configuration with a toggle switch instead of a slide switch? I'm trying to double check everything before I start installing hardware and soldering. Matt J. [/quote] Ah, it may have been a pic...

Ah, thanks for pointing this out, Erwin! That makes more sense now.
Agreed. Admins, if you want to erase this part of the thread to keep it clean go right ahead.
I'll post a 2nd Gen thread in the Discussion section once I start getting things together.

Re: ODS gutshot from Pinterest

Very Interesting! I believe that was the ODS that was built for Hoyt Axton. it has been documented on here before. Last I heard it was owned by Joe Bonamassa. That one and another owned by Don Alvarado used that PCB style construction. My guess is that Dumble was trying a different layout method sim...

Man, I bet that sounds just as good as it looks!!!

Did you make that chassis yourself or source it from somewhere?

Re: 2nd Generation 50w Period Correct ODS

For those who have added a Ratio/Level control to a 2nd or 3rd Gen design like this, what is the recommended pot value you have used?
I've seen some hybrid designs with an 1MA but I wonder how it would work with an 100kL pot like some later ODS circuits have.

Phase Inverter/Presence Control Ground Question

Hey folks, I’m planning out some ODS builds in the next couple of weeks and noticed something with many of the ground schemes posted here I’d like some feedback on. I see on many ODS layouts (like 102, 124, 183) that the 20uF capacitor for the B+3 filter node which feeds the phase inverter gets tied...

Re: A Collection of #124 Information (Schematics, Layout, etc.)

#124 was built in 1984 then updated by Dumble in 1988. So there are differences between the two. The 1988 has Mid boost instead of Deep, has Skyline tone stack, etc. This layout here is supposedly the 1984 layout. I know this is an older thread, but I'm curious if anyone who has built #124 with the...

This looks like it was a really awesome project, beasleybodyshop!
As a huge Eric Johnson fan, I really dig the tones you got out of it.
Where did you end up getting the chassis and faceplates made?

Relay transformer is Hammond 166G6.
I have that same relay transformer I plan on using for some future builds this winter and spring. Did you tie off or ground the green/yellow center tap wire? It looks like you tied it off from the photos but I wanted to double check.
Thanks!
