Re: Lacquered Tweed?

Just to be clear, what Zinsser calls amber shellac is orange shellac. There is no difference. They changed the name for whatever reason. It's the same thing. Orange shellac, I've been calling it that for 40 years and I 'm not about to change, has a very rich color. Personally, I like it better than ...

Re: i hate life

I'm sorry that you are going through this. I've been there as well and it's never been easy. I find some consolation by thinking about it in terms of myself. I have a definite wish to put myself down when it is time. If I am not capable, I will want help. You helped. Smile and enjoy the memories of ...

Re: Airbrake Wattage Rating - Oversight maybe?

I know he says to set vintage amps to half the impedance of the cab for the first 2 clicks, maybe thats how he gets round it.
Yes, but what user is actually gonna do that? Doesn't seem like a work around that works.

Re: Gibson Historic potentiometer....

I want to chime in again, because many seem to miss the point of this thread. The Centralab or 'good' pots are not 30% taper. 30% taper is NOT what you want if you want to replicate the behavior of an old Gibson or widen the clean portion of the pot. What you do want is 10% taper. This means you do ...

Re: Clean vs Distorted Wattage

The RMS signal and hence, the RMS output power is independent of the duty cycle in the case of a square wave. The harmonic content changes, but not the RMS signal and output power.

Re: Lacquered Tweed?

I'm going to assume that you brush it on? What would your thoughts be on using the Zinsser spray product in several light coats? I've read that with brushing, one needs to be EXTREMELY careful near the all the seams to avoid blotching from the finish "wicking" into the ends of the fabric fibers! Al...

Re: Lacquered Tweed?

Wow, thanks! What "cut" do you use? Or do you simply buy it premixed in a can? If in a can, what brand? Real shellac can do some marvelous things! 8) I aspire to someday call myself a woodworker, possibly "after" I learn the dark, voodoo magic of finishing! Maybe next lifetime! Thanks Again,...

Re: boredom

I can't sing a lick, so if I don't have a a bass or another guitar player to work off of, I'm screwed. Playing for yourself gets old. Although I do sing, I know the feeling of needing a rhythm section for my guitar playing. Then I got inspired by Tommy Emmanuel to start working on my thumbpicking s...

Re: Lacquered Tweed?

I've had good luck with orange shellac. Wonderful color, doesn't build up a thick coat that can crack. It's good stuff.

FTC it is. I'll fix my previous post to avoid misinformation.

Here is a link that discusses this a bit.

Re: Fender sweet spot trick. Hbamp Fender RI mod.

Looks like the bias to the reverb recovery grid is being altered. Huh, might be a happy accident, but it disobeys the 'nothing is for free' rule. No time to think much about that while at work.
