Re: Modded 2061x build thread
ok, so i lifted the shield wire from the ground point and the hum increased even more. i'm nonplussed. i'm going to lift the star ground lugs from the trafo bolt and see if that helps, could be a chassis problem or a loose joint at the ground point. will possibly solder the lugs together or somethin...

Re: Any different audio taper options to Alphas?
So I did the math and apex jr, as much as I would love to order from him, works out about $150 more expensive. I'm currently just doing this for myself and don't have customers or orders yet; when I'm working with those quantities then the additional order and shipping wouldn't be that big a problem...

Re: Modded 2061x build thread
i took apart the amp because it was suddenly dead and practically rebuilt it using tag board, this time with a LOT cleaner lead dress than before, star grounding pre- and poweramp, and also took the opportunity to add a VVR (using IRF840 according to the 18W lite schematic). i have two problems now:...

Re: Any different audio taper options to Alphas?
These, (bottom link) tho i didn't buy them there. I think i got em at tubesandmore, but I ordered from a few different places to get all the parts so maybe not. But those are the ones in any case. Not hi end quality, but a little better than alphas and like i said, the right taper. I really don't g...

Re: Old Friend gone away
very sorry for your loss. this is why i don't have a pet, i think. i'd be devastated if i had to part with it. i'm way too attached to other beings in my life. i quite love dogs in particular.

beautiful work. always wondered what it looked like form the inside.
i'll go on record here to say that the mad professor (the very first model they made) is the best amp i've heard and played, bar none. hats off to scandinavia.

Re: Nashville flood damage to MANY amps, any tips to save?
very sorry to hear about the floods in your country and the aftermath. while it is still only gear that has been lost (i imagine a lot of loved ones were lost there, as well as other seriously irreplaceable things and memoirs), that gear meant a lot to a lot of people too. i think for the electronic...

Re: 807 push pull?
thanks all, it just happens that i have a pair (actually, three) NOS JAN 807s and have no idea what to do with them. apparently, they're quite well-loved on the audiophile circuit, but i thought it would be a shame to "waste" them for SE operation in triode mode... for bass, i'm going to eventually ...
