Just ordered a few sets myself. Have been using Heyboer, but like many needed to try them just because of the price point. I will report back too - I'm using them in a Plexi styled amp.

The 6.6k would lower your power a bit too if you kept the PT the same.

I've had this problem before, and in my case it was also a 'bad' pot. It wasn't sealed, so I'm sure something just got in there. Cleaning didn't help, only replacing it.

FWIW, I know bad plate resistors tend to cause the crackles too, but I've only found that on an older Fender.

Yep, turn that off if you haven't already
