Re: So let me get this straight...
Steve, I had Billy Yates install the footswitch mod and retrofit the PPIMV that was already there, so I can't tell you for sure how it was wired up. As of yesterday, though, I had the PPIMV taken out after Dave Friedman found the bad filter caps w/wrong values, and a bad ground on the speaker jack....

Re: So let me get this straight...
Jim,
how is the 1meg dual applied? Is it like the Rich mod with a 1meg instead of a 500k or like the metro named Larmar with 250k dual and 2.2meg resistors? Thanks in advance...Steve

Re: Rocket Voltages
Steve, Check my math - I get: (11.02 / 50) / 4 = 55mA per tube (8.2 / 50) / 4 = 41mA per tube If I've got that right then yes it's pretty hot. I don't know what those tubes will take before they start to red plate, but at the least I imagine the life expectancy might be a bit shorter than the specs...

Re: Rocket Voltages
Hey RJ, I think the basic sound is the same. However with the higher voltage everything is bigger. The low end seems a little tighter and the amp breaks up a little sooner.Definetly a volume increase. I need to look at the Bias however, seems pretty hot at 11.02 compared with 8.2 with the 50ohm resisto...

Rocket Voltages
I have changed my Rocket from the low voltage taps w/50ohm cathode bias resistor to the higher voltage taps w/the 68ohm cathode bias resistor.
Just thought I would post the voltages for reference.Maybe it will be useful to someone and maybe not. Here it is.

Re: Dovetail jig - question
Try www.woodcraft.com . They have a basic 12" half blind jig for 59.99.I have seen it in person and it looks like a solid unit. It's called the woodriver half-blind dovetail jig. I make Custom Furniture, cabinets, wine cellars, ect for a living.I have a Porter Cable 12" setup for Drawer sides and backs....

Asteriod/Express
I have been contemplating building an Asteriod for quite a while. However, I don't need another loud 60 watt amp. I was thinking about using Asteriod front end,ex. pot values, preamp ect into an Express power amp,Trannies ect..This would be roughly 35 watts instead of 60 watts.Has anyone else tried th...

Re: Rocket finished
Hey Mark,
Very nice looking build..I also would agree that the Rocket is a wicked lead amp.Mine cranked with a Les Paul is pretty awe inspiring.
Again nice looking build

Re: 5G9 Tweed Tremolux
Hey Structo, Thanks for the links.I picked the tweed because of several articles on them and sound clips, not many tho.An article in tonequest I was rereading recently got me motivated.I know Victoria and Chicago blues box each make one based on the 5E9/5G9. Leemo, Thanks for the comment about the my...
