Re: Portland Dumble-fest - Mar 20, 2011!

To breathe life into an old thread.. If there ever is another Portland or NW Amp Show, get together or IDK .. Jamboree..... I will be there. So count me in to add a few percentage points to the total and I will fill a minivan full of amps, cabinets, propane and propane accessories. I may go a little...

Fender Twinolux schematic ? Topology guesses ?

I really like the two EC amps I have played, the little Tremolux and the Twin sister too. I was wondering if anyone had a schematic for them as I have built many of the Super/ Bandmaster/ Pro tweeds and would like to add THAT bias trem (I think) to the circuit. Could it be lifted intact from say the...

Re: What Dumble is a d-lite most similar to ?

I too am appreciating the feedback. I bit the bullet and ordered the 100W trannys from MC. I'm leaning toward a build with the Dumblator built in and/ or reverb too. Keeping that in mind I don't want to squeeze it all in to a regular CE chassis and give my self the room to spread out and reduce cros...

Is a working pcb Twin Reverb worth $400 in parts value ?

I have my eye on a later just FUGLY Twin RI that works but need s a recover and grill done. I can do it but it's not a lot of fun... I wanted to do a 100 watt ODS of some kind like you guys keep telling me. Is it worth it, I mean are the components roughly equivalent to the MC iron ? Otherwise I'm l...

That work looks really nice the chassis too ! If you are a noob, it doesn't show.

Is that one of the Canadian CE chassis ?

Re: Anyone build a stereo guitar amp with 3 OTs ?

Jack I love those amps. At one time I had 3 versions. Their problem was when you drove both channels with one preamp it loaded that preamp down too much. I almost want to build one with two quads of EL84s and either a CF to drive them or another trick to get maximun driving voltage. I'm probably jus...

Re: Anyone build a stereo guitar amp with 3 OTs ?

Well thanks for the tips. So far one of my favorite niche builds is a RCA record player stereo with 2x SE 6Bq5's . The circuit is a double Kalamazoo with that great 330k power tube gridleak resistor. The thing just screams. Hifi parts don't have to be used in a hi-fi way. I tied off the UL taps and ...

Anyone build a stereo guitar amp with 3 OTs ?

I have a couple of donor chassis with 3 output transformers each. One Hammond a Conn and a Magnavox. You know the two moderate sized treble stereo channels and one big bass OT. Anybody ever take advantage of one of these transformer sets to make a "HI FI" guitar amp with extra stereo imaging without...

Re: What Dumble is a d-lite most similar to ?

ToneMerc, Talbany Structo and Rob, thanks a bunch for the replies. I should confess I bought the D-Lite chassis and boards from Moss about 5-6 years ago IIRC. Bought Heyboer iron, I spent a few months gathering parts for my build with other orders (to keep the shipping costs down). When it was done,...

Re: What Dumble is a d-lite most similar to ?

TM, so aside from the relays (and the lower output), what might put the cajones back in the gelding ? Keeping the general layout what could I do to get a more accurate Dumble tone ?

If I'm not being too broad.

What Dumble is a d-lite most similar to ?

I'm familliar with the terminology but now that I have a sweet "Tweaked D-lite 44" with Bassman iron. I want more flavors of this stuff. Is Normster's D-lite most like a Low-plate classic ? If I want to compliment this build what next ? I'ts only taken a few years to get the first one going, I want ...
