Re: Santana Dumbles

DUMBLE build a ODR for Santana in 2007 You can see that amp in this video if you stop it at the 26 sec mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQfmlE_cvDc Here is a live video of him playing the same amp. You can see it behind him at the 8 sec mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NlKbAMm5Mc He really...

Re: Santana Dumbles

From what I can see, that Overdrive reverb looks identical in the phase inverter section to a 90s Dumble ODS that I worked on a few years back. And the separate Reverb controls: I have seen this in a Dumble ODR before. Both amps I had the pleasure of working on were under a 'do not share' basis. Al...

Re: Santana Dumbles

I was looking back at the gut shot of 57 and noticed a large ceramic cap (maybe .1uF) on the supply of the reverb transformer. Any idea of what this is for

Re: Santana Dumbles

I guess my other question (in the timeline of Santana owning that amp), would the recorded "Game of Love" song have been when the ODR was in its original state? I heard Dumble modded it into an HRM/post-OD reverb model, whereas I'm not sure what it was before exactly. I think Dave Workman owned it ...

Re: Santana Dumbles

Since we are on Santana's amps topic, I always found interesting the idea of the pedal power supply that Bludo did on his UT amp.

These are the pics I have of #13. Did anyone ever get a good resolution of the handwritten sketch (attached?)

Re: Santana Dumbles

And V2 is definitely the reverb driver. The ungooped trimmer at the begining of the board is probably for the FET.

Re: Santana Dumbles

It's an interesting amp, sn 57, coax looks like later amps (similar to bludo and AN use - anyone know what maker it is?) as does the power supply, but there are some super early components like the Mallory brown drop and piher.. sn 58 is the rick vitto, point to point tantalum amp, 59 is the one May...

Re: Santana Dumbles

And part of the back of that amp. The 2 screws in the DUMBLE logo are corresponding to that PCB mounted to the back. Not sure what it is but maybe a later addition, as the power supply seems to be too

Re: Santana Dumbles

This may have been answered elsewhere but I love the tone Santana has gotten on the tracks “Game of Love” (Michelle Branch version) and “Feeling You” (coincidentally also Michelle Branch Vox). To me the lead tone doesn’t have the “grit”raggedness” to it. Almost like a compressor is in it but the dy...

Re: 1970's Dumble OD-50W ODS available on Reverb

I thought that was the most interesting part of the interview. That there was some element of chance in the construction and assembly. Something Dumble wasn't able to control. A notion not consistent with his legend. There is ample evidence that the 'it' factor varied with his amps. Robben Ford men...
