Dumble Presence Control
I have been looking into different amps and noticed that the order of the pot (variable resistor) and the capacitor of the presence control change from amp to amp. For example, Borderline Special had the cap, followed by the pot which would be followed by the ground. 102 is the other way around, the...

Re: My take on Eric Johnson's Steel String Singer #005
So I just measured, one lead at the metal base and one at Pin1.and I do get a reading of 0.2ohms. they are therefore probably connected

Re: My take on Eric Johnson's Steel String Singer #005
Thanks for the input. I will check later today with the meter and feedback here. Indeed super confusing Martin. I asked the guys I bought the tube from TubeWorld and they mentioned pin1 is connected to base...I guess I'd better test, but probably will rework the circuit to be on the safe side do tha...

Re: My take on Eric Johnson's Steel String Singer #005
It can be, but some brands may not make that connection. I’d just do a multimeter check to find out. Thanks Martin, Guy and Steve. I am planning on using a set of old GEs I had, a pair from 1969 and a pair from 1984. How can I measure this tubes with a meter? Red on PIN 1 and black to PIN 8? Set to...

Re: My take on Eric Johnson's Steel String Singer #005
I was checking some picture of AN version of this amp and I found intersting the tube wiring for 6550. He is floating the grid stopper instead of using PIN 1, and I always thought 6550 does not use PIN 1, similar to 6L6. The spec sheet of 6550 (attached) says that PIN 1 is base sleeve. He has two bl...

Re: Dumbleator II build.
Super cool project CW, thanks for the additional details. Congratulations on the beautiful build. Are you going to be using it with a ODS?

Dumble Blue Capacitor
I was looking into late 80's/ early 90's ODS and noticed that frequently HAD used those blue capacitors. I have been on a hunt trying to find out what they are. I have seen an early amp (maybe 18X serial - don't recall exactly) which had a A/E stamp on the blue caps at the PI. The one on the picture...

Re: 50Hz vs 60Hz cycles - tonal impact?
I have been increasingly curious if the 50Hz to 60Hz will have tonal impacts on my Bandmaster. 40:56 https://youtu.be/rNvOUmwPiUQ Yep! I was looking at Kikusui 500M, which is the smallest unit, but it costs over GBP 2K. Hard investment but I am close to pulling the trigger as soon as I have ...
