Re: Going threw my Dumble pic's

I have seen all of them at one point or another: The SSS is not a fresh build, that one used to be Eric Johnson's, and was built in like '82 the one That Alexander built in 07 has a gold hammertone chassis. The ODSR built in 07 used a recycled front and rear pannel (one of the 3 part chassis with th...

Re: OD section Robben Ford Dumble

You should be running that at 8 ohms to get the primary right, The Twin OT probably helps substantially with the "woof"

That being said the Music Man setup sounds most like Rugged Road to me- My buddy's amp had 4 x 220 uf filter caps on the first stage

Re: OD section Robben Ford Dumble

When I saw the 2 amps at the same time they both had chokes, both had Twin Iron(output). I've since had a chance to spend some 1 on 1 time with the tan amp.

The Music Man Iron has a different response, it is a tad darker, and the low end is tighter, it doesn't seem to have the "Woof"

Re: OD section Robben Ford Dumble

Yeah, Around 90/91 a friend of mine ordered an ODS from Dumble as "the robben ford thing" and what he got was a Skyline with standard overdrive and Music Man IRon. That amp NAILS Rugged road. When I stuck my head in back of the black amp it had what looked to be Twin trannies, Robben also said he ha...

Re: OD section Robben Ford Dumble

Seeing him live then, and seeing him recently, his tones are completely different. There's an RF website where one of his techs (David/Daved?) answers questions on a somewhat regular basis. He had his main ODS sent back to Dumble for changes about 1 and a half to 2 years ago. Apparently, it's love/...

Re: OD section Robben Ford Dumble

The tan amp looked like it hadn't been touched in Decades, the Parts were all early 1980's The goo was black and had a hefty layer of dust on it. I think it's the Other amp he got in the 90's that he fights with.

Re: ANY ACTUAL A/B CLIPS OF DUMBLE AND CLONE??

Do any of the Dumble builders/cloners on here have direct A/B clips of the Dumble and their clone of it when it was finished? That would be a true test mark, and a a great selling tool I would think. Here is Dumble # XYZ and here is how it sounds in three settings. Here is clone of #XYZ, now...

Re: ANY ACTUAL A/B CLIPS OF DUMBLE AND CLONE??

Most folks here on the forum have neve seen a real dumble in person, let alone been inside one to clone. Furthermore, the only way to truly approximate it would be to use old stock parts/seasoned iron. They sound different after 20 years of being played. That being said, I'll see if my buddy will le...

Re: oooooooo

Yeah the classic is a 6l6. I find the EL34's to not have the top end extension of the 6l6 and a bit more "grit" I don't necessarily find them more agressive though. The big difference is in the low end, the 6l6 is a gorilla and the El34 is a spider monkey. I find that El34 Skylines with Standard ove...

As a comparison, Here is the same guitar, cab, mic, etc but this time the amp is a high voltage EL34 Skyline-

As always nevermind the clams....
