Re: Jazz Mode Video Demo With Stratocaster and 102
Chris, what pickups do you have in your strat? The neck is from an Amalfitano 62 set and the middle is the neck pickup of an Amalfitano SP set. I like the hotter middle pickup set lower for the 2/4 settings. The bridge is a DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track. To me, it's the best sc sized humbucker on the ma...

Re: Jazz Mode Video Demo With Stratocaster and 102
Chris Cool demo!. :D One question what are you using as a treble cap? A Sliver mica or a Ceramic? Tony Thanks :-) 390pf Silver Mica Cool! So here is the deal with using a SM in an ODS. 1st Dumble rarely if at all used them.(I think I have seen them only in 2nd gen amps) He normally stayed away from...

Re: Jazz Mode Video Demo With Stratocaster and 102
I have the master bright cap on a switch and run it with the cap disconnected when I'm not using a Dumbleator, or if the master isn't cranked way up. I also have the gain (od level) control set up with a dual-pot that gradually brings in an HF taper as a turn it up. That evens out the brightness of...

Re: Jazz Mode Video Demo With Stratocaster and 102
Nice job, Chris! The HRM (OD tone stack) is valuable to tune the OD EQ to match the clean channel. You can add an HRM stack pretty simply with a bit of additional eyelet board. Nice mode for ODS amps. I still haven't tried the HRM stack... I have been thinking about adding it to my ex-124... It's b...

Jazz Mode Video Demo With Stratocaster and 102
I've been experimenting with jazz mode and there are really some cool tones to be had. In this video I go through clean, overdrive, and a fuzz face into clean.

Re: Jazz mode is cool??
Chris, I've been doing a lot of digging on D-Clone overdrive with a strat. I think I even came across a youtube video that you put out on the subject. Thanks for doing that. Regarding jazz mode, I came across an old post by Max that has resulted in the best strat overdrive that I have found so far ...

Jazz mode is cool??
I've been messing around in Jazz mode, which doesn't seem to have a great reputation here, but it really has some cool sounds. I'm almost getting a clean Marshall sound.... it works great with my Stratocaster. With the overdrive on it has a killer crunch. The amp I'm using is a straight up 102 copy ...

Re: Complete Build VLOG For My Latest 102
OK, I am going to have to respectfully, absolutely, disagree with the last couple posts. Coupling capacitor outer foil orientation does affect the sound of the amp and the overall feel of the amp. Guys like Gil and Tony who have built a lot of amps and play out a lot have been talking about this fo...

I did the method where you listen for the less noisy orientation.Bombacaototal wrote: ↑Thu Aug 23, 2018 1:32 pm Also curious on which method are folks here using to determine the outside foil of 6PS Orange Drops caps, is there a pattern on the lettering? Or we always have to go through an oscilloscope?

Complete Build VLOG For My Latest 102
Hey everyone, I want to give a huge thank you! I just finished another build... this time #102 with a few tweaks such as extra relays. I put together a full video from the clips I made as I built the amp. The best part is probably when I realize the overdrive relay is wired backward lol https://yout...

Re: Parts preferences
In my most recent build I used "mojotone vintage taper" 30% taper pots for the tone stack. The usable range feels better than my last build in which I used the standard 10% taper potentiometers.

5 Button Footswitch With Toggles
The toggles allow you to do things like activate pab automatically when overdrive is engaged or activate fet and bright when clean is engaged. One caveat is that if you have multiple relays toggled to activate on clean/overdrive, and then you use the stomp switch to activate one of them, it will act...

Re: A guy talks about his recent contact with HAD
Dumble has been known to influence positive feedback into a circuit through the routing of certain wires in close proximity to one another...Like Gil mentions these practices have the tendency to make the amp unstable. The trick is knowing which ones you can play with and which ones you can't BTW.D...

Re: jacks
Chris, in you version of the Dlator, it appears that you are grounding the jacks at the sleeve through their connection to the chassis. Some builds have discussed isolating the jacks. Have you had any issues your way…loop hum? Ange It's quite a while later but in case anyone wanders across this in ...
