Re: Liverpool treble cap and potentiometer value

:) I played and tweaked my Liverpool today according some modification ideas I found from net to get it`s sound more to balance. In general basic tone is very bright. After several component changes and testing I finally came back to original values from Mark Abbotts schem. When playing with low vol...

Liverpool treble cap and potentiometer value

:) I got my first Liverpool ready and have tested it for a while. To my ear it`s general sound is treblish. If I remeber right there was some discussion here how you could fix this by changing 50 pF cap to 500pF. It was also told that you should change 1 meg treble pot to 250 kohm. Does this mod cha...

Re: Liverpool critical voltages

:D I just finished my Liverpool project without cabin. There are some minor tweakings and adjustments left but I got possibility to test my first Twreck amp ever in real life. I have 4,7 kohm/5W resistor between B1 and B2 instead of that 1 kohm/25W and it seems to be ok for that purpose. My PA volta...

Re: Liverpool critical voltages

:) Hi Humbucker! I know that I should buy a USB mike and do some sound clips to my web pages (www.bluetone.fi) but building amps and playing once a week with my rock band besides my everyday job seems to take all energy. If you live somewhere in south Finland (I live in Espoo)and you are a modest gu...

Re: Liverpool critical voltages

:D Hi Humbucer! Do you have any idea why the wattage in rail voltage B1 resistor 1kohm is 25W? To me it seems overrated when thinking that there will be only 2xEL84 in my version of Liverpool. It is nice to meet Finnish fellows in international tube amp forums. This Ampgarge is excellent source of i...

Re: Liverpool critical voltages

:DOne stupid question concerning Liverpool rail voltage resistors. There is a 1 kohm/25W resistor between B1 and B2 which is 25 W. Is there a real reason for that huge wattage. To my mind reducing voltage and dissipation do not need that big resistor. Normally these resistors are of 3-5W in the rail...

Re: Liverpool critical voltages

:) I always do the search first before asking anything here. However I did not find any information concerning these voltages. I can always proceed with rail voltages because I know the exact component values needed. I do not want to rude, but I was only wandering if there are some hidden secrets be...

Re: Liverpool critical voltages

:) That is nice to hear. It is very good to share experiences with skilled people when building these amps. To me this is only hobby but I still want to make the best sounding tube guitar amps here in Finland. I was asking plate and cathode voltages of Liverpool but nobody is responsing. Are they a ...

Re: Liverpool critical voltages

:) I was first aiming to do a Marshall 18W poweramp to this amp but now I have to consider to change PT if I want that authentic Liverpool. Which part in Liverpool has a bigger role soundwise - is it poweramp or preamp or a combination of both? Regards Harry

Liverpool critical voltages

:) Hi all! I just started my Liverpool 2xEL84 project. Now I would like to know what are voltages needed in pre an power amp in plates and cathodes. I have a schem where there are only voltages of rail voltages but no more. My PT is 2x300V/100 mA and EZ81 rectification which differs a little from th...

Re: Want to build a Twreck with 2xEL84

:) I started my Twreck "Mini Liverpool" project yesterday. Mini means 2xEL84 tubes. I am going to use either Hammond 124E or Hammond 1608 OT which I already had and EZ81 in rectification instead of silicon. Otherwise I am going to follow Liverpool original schem. Which of those OTs suits better to t...

Re: Want to build a Twreck with 2xEL84

:) Maybe I start a Liverpool project with 2xEL84 combination. Playing with my band and a pretty noisy drummer, I now play a guitar amp with 2x6V6 tubes and never have to turn my amp fully on. I`ll come back when I have something to show with this project. Thank`s to everybody. Harry

Re: Want to build a Twreck with 2xEL84

:) Thank you of fast replys. Your answers show to me that I am not familiar with different Twreck models. In the end it is the same if it is preamp or poweramp distortion. I only want to know what model is best to start with and which Twreck suits best to my requirements. I checked Liverpool schem a...

Want to build a Twreck with 2xEL84

:) Hi All! I am new in this forum but very pleased of the information I can get from advanced and experienced Twreck fans here. I have build tens of tube amps based on Marshall, Fender and Vox topologies but now I am really seeking the holy grail with a low wattage Twreck project. I have heard some ...
