Re: VVR to 100 W Marshall 1959HW tubeamp ?

:D Hi Dana! I think that I have to test that 100W version in some test rig before I install it to any customer amp. My customer lives some hundred kilometers away from my home and it is not nice to repair a broken VVR-circuit in that case. Harry

VVR to 100 W Marshall 1959HW tubeamp ?

My customer is interested in to have a VVR to his Marshall which is a 100W tube amp. I have installed Danas fixed bias VVR-kits to many amps with success but they all have been maximum 50 W amps. A friend of mine installed VVR kit to his 100W Marshall but took one pair of power tubes away and put tw...

Re: Faceplates for an amp.

:D I have used this company with success for my faceplates, www.schaeffer-ag.de You design your faceplate with their software and send file to the company. It takes a little to practise how to use software, but even me (53 years old) learned it after some minutes. Plates are professional looking and...

Re: New Trainwreck Inspired 2 channel amp

:D Excellent performance Dana ! I myself am now 53 years old and going to a band gig tomorrow with my mates. We play samekind of music like you did in your video. When I was 15 years old in early seventies, I heard Paranoid and it changed my life. Now we have that song in our repertoire and play it ...

Re: VVR3 enhanced TW

:) I have installed both fixed bias and cathode bias VVRs to many amps by now and fixed bias version to two Plexi Lead clones. In the other version the whole amp has been scaled and the other has only power tubes scaled. With this experience I personally prefer scaling power tubes only. Only in the...

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express

:D Great news Dana! I hope that you can send those instructions of Lil Devil to me. I was starting to assemble my amp package but then I found out that I do not have any data concerning my international PT wiring etc. Those instructions would be a big help Dana. I hope that NY amp festival is ...

Re: European Heyboer alternative?

Well, the reason I bring up that particular site, is that I also want something custom wound (low watt OT's). And as stated, I can't access the Heyboer website. (anyone else have that problem?) (btw. add banzai-effects and uraltone to those european sites you mentioned. Maybe we should compile a li...

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express

:D Hi Dana! As a lazy guy like me, I have postponed my Lil Devil building until I get your instructions. As a matter of fact it is a perfect project to build in my summer cottage because of it`s small size. First you build some hours Lil Devil, then you go to sauna and after that a little barbeqe wi...

Re: Liverpool Jeanette

I have made one Express, one 2xEL84 Liverpool and a mini Express with 2xECL86 tubes. In all those amps I have mounted screen resistors to board without problems. I only would like to know if there is some real reason to mount resistors like that. By now I have not seen that method in any other tube ...

:) I believe you guys. I was just only wondering what Ken had in his head when doing things like that. Maybe there is a technical explanation to do things this way. Harry

Liverpool Jeanette

:D Nice and clean work Gary. When looking at your layout I wonder why those power tube screen resistors are assembled like they are. To me it looks very unsafe way to have components where you have hundreds of volts. Is there some technical reason for that?????Harry

Re: VVR, Power Scaling, DIY-methods - how do they differ?

:) Jake! I fully agree with you in this matter of bedroom level issues. I do not use my plexi at home, but use it for lead playing with my band. I put VVR in it to tame some of that infernal noise level. I know that famous plexi sound is based mainly on PI and poweramp distortion. I am just building...

Re: VVR, Power Scaling, DIY-methods - how do they differ?

:) I have done some amps with cathode biased VVR and some with fixed bias version based on Danas constructions. I scaled my whole Plexi Lead (50W) and I am not very happy with it soundwise. In near future I am going to scale only power tubes of it despite I am not going to put any PPIMV to it. PPIMV...
